Purple Berries

Hi For a long time, I have thought that when Marty or David Freiberg or whomever was singing (in Wooden Ships) "Won't you try some of these purple berries," that he was being nice. Like in "Won't You Try" Paul is being nice when he recommends caps or blue or sometimes tabs of orange haha..
Anyway then there's Stephen Still's line, "horror grips us as we watch you die."
Remember that Simpsons when the kids were on an island like Lord of the Flies and Ralph ate some berries? Oops!
Well it is like they say, "don't eat the brown acid..."

CSN's is more a story, with really great, subdued playing by Stills. Airplane's "Wooden Ships" is conceptual anthemic predecessor to BLOWS...

Both versions of the song concern a post-Apocalyptic nightmare... A WWIII survival scenario...

And either way, I don't think those theoretical "people on the shoreline" were too concerned about trippin' balls...

They just tryin' survivin'...

man, I have always just thought it was a nice song. The wooden ships represent freedom. In my eyes, er ears, wooden ships=big green fields (with no ticks!).

I hear ya, brother... But the song 's subject matter goes a little deeper, and truly, it is not all "nice"...

To me, "Wooden Ships" represents not only a literal science-fiction tale of post-nuclear-holocaust survival drama, but also a perfect literary allegory...

A concise metaphor for the then-contemporary cultural civil-war of the 1960's, the epic struggle of good vs. evil... "Freaks" vs. "Straights"... Us & Them...

And that in the end, the peaceful, humble, berry-scavenging kind folk...

YOU and ME...

We WILL prevail over the "silver-people" who-- with their death-weapons and nuclear technology-- seek to control, distort, dominate and destroy our collective home, Mother Earth.

So yeah.

I get it. It's kind of like grass hoppers and ticks. Grass hoppers are peaceful, nice, and awesome. They aren't gross at all, and I like to play with them. Ticks on the other hand, they are the opposite. Ticks jump on your legs and start makin' there way up! Trying to find a place to suck your blood and make your skin sore. The grass hoppers are greatly out weighed by the ticks, for now anyway. Soon, the grass hoppers and stick bugs will regain control using peace, while the ticks get killed by some sort of pesticide. AKA, wooden ships. Right?

i did get that at an animal hospital.
A good animal doctor should have it to.

Go to an animal doctor and ask for it
BEFORE you need it...

You have to use a tool for that !

I guess you don't know who you are talking to. I spend more time worrying about ticks then I do . . . um . . . doing something I do a lot! I have a good technique for pulling ticks off of my dog. I just scream, "Mom!" and she takes care of it. You don't need a special tool, just pull it out by the head.

Weeks ?....Month ?....

if you pull a tick off you and there is a big gross red mark around the place it bit you, you most likely have lyme disease.
