Ok !....Peace !...

Nice words from Melanie Safka...

Beautiful people
You look like friends of mine
And it's about time
That someone said it here and now
I make a vow that some time, somehow
I'll have a meeting
Invite ev'ryone you know
I'll pass out buttons to
The ones who come to show
Beautiful people
Never have to be alone
'Cause there'll always be someone
With the same button on as you
Include him in ev'rything you do
He may be sitting right next to you
He may be beautiful people too

jorma & jack

Postby lenceel on Tue Apr 11, 2006 9:26 am

i agree 110% - they are two are the most vastly underrated musicians that i know of. here's a sickening example - the digital dream door 100 greatest guitarists lists jorma at 141st! not even in the top 100! granted, this site and list are maintained and compiled by people who obviously prefer heavy metal to other types of music, but give the man his due! not surprisingly, jerry garcia is rated #70 on the same list just behind the guitarist for Toto ?!?!

Party like it's 1969...

Any list like that is going to be flawed, and usually biased towards the musicians that are being played on the radio currently.
Actually - that "Digital Dreamdoor" is one of the better ones, but why our boys are pushed back so far on it?
Oh, that's it - no airplay...
But one major annoyance that I frequently encounter, when talking music with people I don't know so well, is the subject of "Prince". If I had a nickel for every time I've heard some shmuck label him a "Genius", I could afford to have some hot babe typing this for me right now...
Genius at what???

As the truely insane don't know they are insane. Geniuses don't know they are geniuses. I get the feeling prince not only thinks he is a genius, but probably started the rumour. Good...even great at the pop/rock/funk thing, but genius? NO! .... Great music transends image.

The brains of a genius
and the brains of a lunatic
can share the same head....

I know it !!!!!!
Think about my dogs....
and my  X666...

The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade, you make the change
You re-arrange me 'til I'm sane.
You lock the door
And throw away the key
There's someone in my head but it's not me.

(offtopic) Prince is a good musician, nothing more then that.
However, I'm not the biggest fan of his music except for Sign O' The Times or Purple Rain.

Most of the lists are not objectiv and I guess it's shit because my personal favourites are always trashed down, at least many of them.
Therefore I began to hate magazine's like Q, The Rolling Stone or NME.
They praise bands first and kill them later.
We don't have to take them serious...

Jack and Jorma are amongst the best musicians and should be threated like that, afterall they have a place in the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame.
And they are still loved by so many fans.
The last thing is the most important, to be appreciated by people who love the music, the fans.
Not some tabloid that's doing it to start a hype or things like that (not that there are no 'good' reviewers).

As the truely insane don't know they are insane. Geniuses don't know they are geniuses.

Brilliantly said genuis! 8)
Ok, let's say that I am insane, that makes me normal?

Play what you say...

Postby jimmie ray on Thu Apr 13, 2006 10:34 am

When you're here - that would definitely apply!
What drives me insane is to hear these same rock radio people who played and praised the likes of Prince or Madonna decade or two ago - now making fun of anyone who listens that type of stuff...
Yes - they played what they were told to, at that time, and put on some sort of pretend enthusiasm. But I'm supposed to respect them, now?
It's good times now - I can see the light!

I think Jorma & Jack played
with a simple*) guitar amp.
and one or two wah wah boxes...
Today ?.....
A 18-wheel truck full of
some high-tech-guitar things...
Do they play guitar or
a computer with samples
from a real player....

Simple = Just an amp.
not a soundwall, with 256 amps.
128 wah wah things, a sampler
with 800Gb samples from
every guitar player on earth.

I don't know. Remember reading that Jorma tried playin' with TWO wah-wahs at once.

Owlsley put together an incredibly HUGE and complicated sound system for the DEAD in the early seventies. I'm sure the Airplane would've loved to plug into that.

With the airplane Jorma used two wah-wahs, one to set the tone of the guitar and the other for the wah-wah effects. That was my excuse, anyway, for buying two wah-wah pedals. It does make for a great JA sound.

Currently in Hot Tuna Jorma's (electric) equipment is:
Amps - Carr Slant V6 tube
guitars - Epiphone Riviera Jorma signature model and Gibson Chet Atkins SST
    Ernie Ball volume pedals
    Boss BD-2 blues driver
    Rapco A-B switch
    Boss TU-2 chromatic tuner.

Can't wait to see them this Sunday with David Bromberg at the Stone Pony!

Cheers,
Dave
