Anybody have a list of JA covers? I only know of two off the top of my head -

The Ramones - 'Somebody to Love' on "Acid Eaters" (1993)

Four O'Clock Balloon (Ohio band)- 'Two Heads' (1967) Released on the 'Brain Shadows' compilation

My Morning Jacket has an incredible version of White Rabbit on an ''early recordings'' cd.

The Covers Project web site is cool, thanks.
But they make a very common mistake.
They list the JA version of Get Together as a cover from The Youngbloods.
Get Together was written and performed before The Youngbloods.
Quiz: Who wrote Get Together?
Don't bother looking at the record label, it has a made-up name.
Hint: It's a Frisco artist.
Good luck.

Dino Valenti sold the song to the Youngbloods, before he was in QMS.
I'm off to Virginia to visit the folks, Mark - I'll yell "Hot F-ing Tuna" out the window for you and the local horses as I pass your area!
It's good times now - I can see the light!

Yes, Dino it was!
And yes he did sell the rights to the song to Jesse Colin Young (to raise money after getting busted).
However long before The Youngbloods recorded it, it was already released by Hamilton (Bob) Camp (who recently passed away) in 1964:

It was also recorded by the We Five too before the Ybloods. (The We Five are more famous for their great version of Sylvia’s “You Were On My Mind.â€

A lot of you have it wrong with the whole "Get Together" thing. Dino Valente wrote the song, Valente then got busted, to pay for legal fees he sold it to Chet Powers. Jesse Colin Young has no rights to the writing or the ownership of the song, he only sings it all the time. Valente sold the song to Powers not Young, there is no way Jesse Colin Young would have had the money that Valente needed for legal fees in 1966. But he did not write the song for Quicksilver Messenger Service, he had written earlier to the formation of the band, he was a resident folkie on the San Fran scene before breifly being in Quicksilver Messenger Service.
If you were a cloud and you sailed up there,
You sail on water as blue as air;
You'd see me here in the fields and say,
"Doesn't the sky look green today?"

You are half-right.
I went to the only living source … Jesse Colin Young and asked him.
Jesse says:
There is NO different person named “Chet Powers.â€
