Well, here's my two cents on the subject, and this opinion is soley mine and comes from no other hidden information other than that which has been conjectured by my (often) befuddled mind after hearing and seeing various interviews with Grace...
Grace was a person driven by an artistic desire. At the time that desire expressed itself through music, and performance. At some time she reached a point where the performance of the music no longer expressed her feelings, which probably led to the overindulgence of various substances. Her performance of music became, basically, "for the money". I don't mean this in a bad way, it's just part of growing up and learning about oneself. She now finds painting to be the expression of her feelings and, as such, music is no longer a major focus for her. She has said (rightly so) that she is proud of what she did, and is still pursuing her passions. They've just changed, a little. As to why she doesn't appear in so many posts, it's simply because for most of the people here it's about the music. And I seem to remember her appearing in a lot of posts, early on, it's just that people have said what they have to say, and are moving on with those members of the Airplane who are still focused on the music.
As I've said in the past, my first interest in the Airplane came from a combination of Grace and teenage hormones. If it weren't for her, I probably would never have paid much attention to the Airplane, back then. My true appreciation for the group really didn't come until waaayy later. And "Rejoyce" still sends shivers up my spine....

I know JA only about one year !
And i am 46, listened to almost all kinds of music....
Not realy but almost from Abba to Zappa....
Then there is a small mpeg2 file......i even don't know where
that came from !.......beleave it or not !....ghosts ?....
I can't remeber where that smal mpeg2 file cam from !....
It is JA playing White Rabbits.....

Or something like that.......i agree with that to !....
Many of the old rockers who are playing now.
Like the Rolling Stones , The Who etc. etc.
They where good when they where young......
Now it is a different story.....
And........
I realy hope that's she is OK! now....
And doing that what she likes to do !......
Not smoking is one thing she shouldn't do !!!!!
Then she could have a lot more years on this planet !!!!

And some fans from Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship
will forget that woman to......she isn't musician anymore.....
That's a bad thing........my personal thing......

remembered by Jefferson Airplane......
And the true story ?.......that these songs are from Grace Slick ?

Grace's voice is what got me into the band. I'm a singer too, (but I'm not "in" yet), and I heard her voice and it was nothing in the world. It's beautiful, a beautiful voice for a beautiful person. I love Jack and Jorma and Spencer but I'm not a good musician. I try...but I really have no talent for guitar and I don't know much about it. I just like the sounds. And Grace has beautiful sound, but we have to remember that all the sounds are fine on their own, but they need to be together to be Jefferson Airplane or JA and Grace or Grace and JA.
Get what I mean?

They are extremely uncomfortable with the idea that I am a teenage girl in the body of a 60 year old career criminal who has already died 16 times...

We could argue this, of course, forever but let me present the following proposition.
You state that like the Stones without Jagger and The Who without Daltry, the JA without Grace would not be the JA, meaning not as good, or not sounding like the Airplane we’ve all grown to know and love.
But think of this for the moment. The current Jefferson Starship that has been touring for the last few years has a very good Grace sound-alike (Diana Mangano). They have Paul. And they have Marty (often times). And they play a lot of old Airplane material … Somebody To Love, 3/5 of a Mile, It’s No Secret, etc. And though the sound is very enjoyable and I go to their shows, no one would ever mistake them for the Airplane.
So what is missing?
Answer: Jorma and Jack mostly. (And Spencer too.)
All we are saying is that the roaring, rambling, hard-driving, charging, fiery, passionate, soaring, compelling, gleeful, wondrous, distinctive JA sound came out of the speakers of Jack and Jorma’s (and Paul’s) amplifiers. G-d bless ‘em.
