JA Influenced Bands

Similar to the JA sounding thread, I came across this site and thought it might be interesting to some here.

I don't know 3/4 of the bands listed.

Interesting though, I have been pretty much all over the musical map, specifically on roots music, over the last 40 some years and I keep returning to this band JA. Probably because they imprinted themselves in me at an influential time (adolescence) ;-) but mainly because they were such an interesting mix of influences that I've explored individually, like Jazz, Blues, Folk, Rock n Roll, Pop, Classical that blended together so uniquely. No band sounded like them during their heyday, before or after.

I understand now what Ralph Gleason meant when he said on the Takes Off liner notes that it's music that "sticks in your mind"

Yep, sounds like brain damage to me alright. ;-)

I love a lot of those bands, and that's a pretty good musical legacy. 8)

The Rolling Stones.
What, the Rolling Stones?
Only in one song, only in the live versions with a still young Lisa Fisher: "Gimme Shelter".
The duelling vocals, the flaring passions, that's Jefferson Airplane.
