For some reason playing Foo Fighter's latest CD made me look for my Family albums (I own all of them, Family is in my top 3 of all-time-greats). I raved about "Music In A Doll's House" (a psychedelic masterpiece) before, but all their albums are excellent, among which "Fearless" and "Bandstand" are currently my favorites.
Family was a stunning live act too. Just watch the performance of "The Weaver's Answer" at the Isle of Wight Festival on YouTube. Powerful, intense, overwhelming music and that unsettling voice of Roger Chapman, possessed, demonic even.
Why is this band so criminally underrated, especially in the USA.
Only Steve Marriott had the same intensity. But Americans didn't like him either. They prefer Rod Stewart.....
