Between 1964 to 1971, I lived down the street from the Jefferson Airplane mansion on Fulton and North Willard streets in San Francisco. They had painted the three story mansion all black with gold trim. The four columns in the front were sanded down to the bare wood. When you went to the front door, you look up at the balcony and see a painted sky with clouds. From the third floor, they hung a blue banner with a space ship rocketing above the sun.The step-van they used to carry their equipment was always parked in the back. There was a bus stop in front that I would stay waiting for my bus to Beach Chalet soccer fields. Sometimes, I would sing while waiting. Luckily, their windows were closed so they couldn't here me. I have a color photo but I can't figure how to post it.
