The Jefferson Airplane What If Game 2

Postby CookOfTheHouse on Tue Oct 19, 2010 8:05 pm

I was checking out some of the older posts and found the first What If Game. Its main topic was "What If... the airplane had never split?" and people would write down some (imaginary) albums. It was cool. But now I thought about another What If Game! What if, after Surrealistic Pillow Grace Slick decided to leave, just like Signe Anderson did the year before? Who would have been the perfect replacement? Or mayybe an intresting replacement? Mama Cass? Linda Ronstadt? Janis? Nancy Nevins? Mariska Veres? Lydia Pense? Lynn Carrey? Who would be best to team up with Balin as frontmen?

Wow, it's hard to believe the one on the first video, with the strong rocking vocals is the same girl from the second video, so poppy soft vocals! But I thinks she's great, I'll keep reading about her! Thanks! Let me return the favour:

Sweet talkin' Candy Man by C.K. Strong (Lynn Carey)

Why oh Why by Sweetwater, Live, Woodstock Festival (Nancy Nevis, only 17 at the time!!)

You Got Me Hummin' by Cold Blood (Lydia Pense, one of the hotest 60's chicks )

I always loved the Somebody To Love playback version, specially ince Grace sings with and electric plug instead of a microphone!!

i heard that Vinegar Joe link you sent and I think it was pretty cool...aparently every girl started following Joplin's Kozmic Blues thing (blue eyes fun with a brass section), like Lydia Pense, Elkie Brooks, Lynn Carey, a.s.o.

They would find somebody who was not quite in the spotlight but maybe somewhat acquainted with a band member. In order to replace Grace, somebody new and fresh would have to carry the torch.

Karen Carpenter would have been intresting, not famous at all at the time and one hell of a drummer!!
