Outtakes means songs recorded at the sessions that didn't make it to the album. That could mean alternate takes, or songs not on the album at all, or jams.

Sorry, I know what outtakes means.

My brain mixed things up.

When I read "Volunteers," my brain said "Woodstock."

Apologies.

Some alternate takes from the Volunteers were released on the Quad mix version of Volunteers and the Jefferson Airplane Loves You box set. There's also a bootleg from the sessions that includes an instrumental version of Hey Fredrick and Paul's demo for We Can Be Together.

Yup, I got all those.

And I actually prefer the Hey Frederick instrumental part in the "Love You" CD set than I do the original.

I also prefer the alternate take of Hey Frederick that's on the Loves You box set, I think both Grace's vocal and the outro jam are better in that version. The alternate version of Volunteers with different lyrics is pretty good too.

Me too, ever since I heard the alternate version of Hey Frederick, I've always listened to that version only.
