Which year of music is your favorite?

Postby plasticfantastic on Wed Jul 14, 2010 10:43 pm

A nearly impossible question, I realize, but nonetheless an interesting one: If you were only to listen to music released in one specific year, year would it be?

I would most definitely say 1968, although as I said, the choice is nearly impossible. My reason?

Well, 1968 marked the release of Crown of Creation, The Beatles (also known as the White Album), The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society (The Kinks), Easter Everywhere (The Thirteenth Floor Elevators), A Saucerful of Secrets (Pink Floyd), The Madcap Laughs (Syd Barrett), Electric Ladyland (Jimi Hendrix), Waiting For the Sun (The Doors), Anthem of the Sun (The Grateful Dead), S.F. Sorrow (The Pretty Things), Shine on Brightly (Procol Harum), Quicksilver Messenger Service (eponymous), White Light/White Heat (The Velvet Underground), and Wheels of Fire (Cream), among many others I like very much, but don't remember off the top of my head. Whew...

So what would your year be? This is a rather odd question, perfectly theoretical in nature, but it's a rather interesting thing to think about.
Trouble in mind, lord I'm blue
But I won't be blue always
The sun's gonna shine in my door,
Shine in my back door someday

There is no favourite, but there were alot of great realeases in 1967.
Pillow AND Baxter's
Disraeli Gears.
Sgt. Pepper.
Strawberry Alarm Clock.
The Doors.
The Jimi Hendrix Experience.
And other great sounds that arn't as commercial as these, you know what i'm talking about.

68 was a good year for music too. Plastic mentioned some groovy records. Another of my favourites is Ultimate Spinach.

I don't think I have a favorite.

Fellow Jefferson Airplane/Psychedelic Rock fans,

Good day. My favorite year is the year I call the year music changed - 1965. Some songs from 1965 are: Bob Dylan - "Like a Rolling Stone", The Rolling Stones - "Satisfaction", The Byrds - "Mister Tambourine Man"/"Turn, Turn Turn", The Beatles - "I Saw Her Standing There"/"She's So Fine", etc.

Ohhh...maybe 1956. Primarily because of the dramatic music change which happens all the time but I think 1956 had the biggest impact for the musical business ever, imo.

Every song on the Love Me Tender soundtrack, Elvis Presley & Elvis Albums are AMAZING.

others: Que Sera Sera, The Wayward Wind, I'm In Love Again, Be Bop a Lula, Blueberry Hill, Long Tall Sally, Roll Over Beethoven, Fever, I Walk The Line, Get Rhythm, Brown-Eyed Handsome Man, I've Got You Under My Skin, Without Love There Is Nothing, Diddy Wah Diddy, Crazy Arms.

Do you mean "She's So Fine" by the Easybeats, Beyondfromwithin?
I love the Easybeats, they made some good stuff :)
