To say that the Doors music was not psychedelic is a joke! I must have been tripping on a different planet.
The Doors music wasn't any good! Another joke! There are multitudes who think they were far beyond good.

Hi Okeedoe, those were real funny last words. Now that our game has ended, I just want to say that I really liked it. I enjoyed reading, planning and writing it. But if you run into trouble, let me know, the doctor is always in to support you.

As for Jim Morrison, the man may have been a total jerk, that doesn't mean that he wasn't able to come up with some good music. My dislike of the Doors has not so much to do with his pretentions to be a shaman or a poet, I rarely listen to lyrics (I must have listened more than a thousand times to "Ballad", but I don't think I can write down the words faultlessly). My main problem with The Doors is Morrison's voice and Ray Manzarek' organ playing. And I am a happy-go-lucky kind of guy, I was never into Doom. Maybe their music suits downers better.

I think the Doors' music suits those strange types who think it's cool to be a downer. (Gloom is overrated, but it's still very popular with teenagers.) And old Lurch on the scary organ just makes for a darkly serious mood that I can't take seriously. When it comes to cheesy organs I'd rather listen to Iron Butterfly.

Surprisingly, there was a large amount of "doom" back in the age of Aquarius, and the days certainly got stranger and stranger. But all our timelines and locations are different. I guess 2 years can make a big difference in experience in one location, never mind all over the place.
I personally don't hold it against the Doors for not being from San Francisco. I will be content to "be alone out here" for the time being. I go decades like that sometimes, 'till I find someone who not on thinks, but feels the same way. And then the emptiness of heaven welcomes my weary soul The Doors had every bit of influence on the counter-culture as JA.
