Uncle Sam Blues Studio Version

Postby TakeMeOnYourFlight on Wed Jul 22, 2009 5:43 pm

Does anyone have a way they could post this? I have been unable to find the Early Flight 1998 reissue that has it at retail stores, used stores, online stores, mp3 sites or blogs. Any help would be appreciated.

Early Flight is the hardest album/CD to come by (at least for me). I had to piece my version together off of various tracks I found on the Internet. Unfortunately, I too do not have Uncle Sam Blues. I will take a look around...

Some people didn't like the chriogoesrock idea so Chris went to The Hudding Hills.Chris is a very persistent fellow(luckily for many of us). They constantly kill his blogs but he always come back
on a new web adress. This is the newest one.It will take some time for him to get ready and you''ll be able to get some pretty cool stuff there.

To my knowledge, "Uncle Sam's Blues" isn't on Early Flight anyway.

Apparently a studio version is on the 1998 reissue of Early Flight but I have yet to see a copy avaliable. Some blogs have the updated track listing but the file given is still just the original 9 track running order.

Hmm, interesting. You'd think either amazon.com or allmusic.com would mention this then.
Sounds suspicious to me. Anyone own this CD who can verify?

I'm beginning to wonder if it's false information, the source of the info was wikipedia which can be inaccurate sometimes.

Somebody added it to the article and I ran with it because it made sense in my head....sorry about that. And it's funny, because I do own the 1998 version of this CD so you'd think I would have realized that track wasn't there. We all have our moments I guess. I removed the track from the wikipedia article. I think someone probably ended up with a bootleg version of Early Flight with the Woodstock version of the song. The track time was identical to the one on "Jefferson Airplane Loves You". If there is a studio version, it hasn't been released to the public.

Jorma's Uncle Sams Blues is on the the JA Woodstock 2 CD set. It is on the 2nd CD live Woodstock.

It was also added to the woodstock 40th movie.

Uncle Sam Blues with just Jack & Jorma (with Jorma on acoustic guitar) was released in 1970 on the self-titled "Hot Tuna" album, and a live Airplane version from 1969 was released on Sweeping Up the Spotlight (released in 2007)

to my knowledge, there is
1) The woodstock recording
2) the Sweeping Up the Spotlight version (live at the Fillmore, sometime in summer 1969)
3) 1970 Hot Tuna version
4) 1971 live Hot Tuna electric version (pretty kickass version)

I just did a search on iTunes and those are all the Kaukonen-related versions available.
