Today I came across Dr. Phil on one of the rare occasions i focus on television for a moment, and he was having some thing on how parents have to lie to their kids about santa not existing.When these parents find their kids coming to them saying they heard at school santa isnt real, the fact they keep lying and say he does exist, and wonder why their kids rebel and hate them when they grow up after finding out santa doesnt exist and were lied to makes me cringe.Im glad my parents didnt lie to me like that.You can celebrate the holidays without being lied to.And I hate Dr. Phil even more for helping these parents to find better ways to lie to their kids.

Anyway, Santa Baby is probably the christmas song I hate most.Maybe one of the songs I hate most ever, which is a long list.I cant say there are any I really hate, but non I like in any way.However, I love (the original)I Believe in Father Christmas, by Greg Lake.That and Father Christmas by The Kinks are the ultimate truths of the holiday, abusing religion and twisting history to make a buck.

I can't think of any other type of music that you only listen to for a certain time of the year, but would never play during the other months? I mean even the Beach Boys or Jimmy Buffet still gets played in the winter, not just in warm weather. Anyway, I avoid the Christmas music by staying out of stores and taking the dog for long walks when my wife puts it on. The worst is the bubbly, jazzy crap that jackasses like Harry Connick jr spew out.

Most Christmas songs are crap, but the absolute nadir is reached by John Lennon "Happy Christmas (War is Over)" and Mariah Carey "All I Want For Christmas". From Carey I don't expect anything else, but such a false, insincere song by Lennon is still an unpleasant surprise.
But I do have a few favorites: "White Christmas" by Bing Crosby (Ahh, that lovely melody) and "Merry Christmas Everybody" by Slade (just bad taste on my side, I suppose).

Any of you heard "A Christmas Carol" by Tom Lehrer? That pretty much describes my feelings about fake Christmas goodwill. My favourite non-satirical Christmas music is "A Carol Symphony" by Vaughan Williams, because it's slightly spooky and has nostalgic value for me.

I heard "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday" by Wizzard in the supermarket yesterday. I normally like Roy Wood, but this is fucking awful!
