How old were you when you stopped tripping

I know Gracie stopped tripping at some point, claiming it was too hard to raise a child while you're hallucinating. 5 or 10 of my Navy buddies got out and settled in Washington State. We kept dropping some form of hallucinogen for a few more years every so often. We were all about age 25 when we stopped. Mainly too hard to hold a job, family responsibilities, etc., it got to be too scary.

The year was 1975.

Nice to hear older folks are still tripping. Have some very mild shrooms that grow in my yard that I cheated with a few times afterwards, but I don't consider that tripping as these shrooms are about the strength of weed.

I knew there would be some folks still tripping, but figured that would be the exception and most have stopped. Love it when I'm wrong.

I'm sure a lot of people are still doing it, but not keen to admit it! I met someone a couple of weeks ago who was still taking acid after forty years. He'd stopped while he was raising a family, but now he's back to a trip every fortnight. He's around sixty, I'd guess.

I'm 57 & tripped over my cat last night. As for that other stuff, I did mushrooms occaisionally until about 5 years ago. Strong stuff & I didn't feel like investing the time. After a couple hours I'd want to do something else but the mushrooms would say "No you don't!"

It's horrid when you think "I'm not enjoying this any more", and it just keeps on coming with an increasingly repulsive theme. Mushrooms are not for casual fun.

Somewhere in 1968 I stopped just weeks after I started. I wasn't impressed, didn't like the experience and saw what it was doing to people around me. Good decision: I'm doing fine, some of the others didn't and don't.

Funny how everyone's different. I was that way with cocaine, and after a couple of tries decided it wasn't worth the money and would rather have weed. With acid though I just wanted more and more. Even after a bad trip, I would keep going until they got good again.

The bad trips are in some ways the best ones. They can show you quite clearly the process by which you get yourself into mental difficulties. Depression, for example.

You know, I've never thought about the process by which you get into depression. I've always taken depression as a given in life, and focused my thoughts on how to break the threshhold of depression, and come out of it. It's a fine line. Joplin's line "you have to do it with a feeling" comes to mind.

You do all the same things when you are depressed and it is tedious and difficult and doesn't feel good.

When you are not depressed, you do the exact same things and they feel great...

recognizing the process by which you get yourself into depression in the first place, and thus avoiding it, is intriguing.

Sometimes I can see depression as a kind of mental "black hole" that grows by attracting and lending truth to negative and self-critical thoughts. If I interrupt the process early enough, the depression may stay in the background. If it doesn't, I just have to wait until I feel better.

Everyone's mind is different. But I think that psilocybin has great potential as a medicine.
