What other music do you like?

I know that, if you are a fan of Jefferson Airplane and have lots of J.A. CDs lining your shelves, that you also have lots of The Doors, Grateful Dead, Hot Tuna, etc also on the shelves, but what music would people be surprised to find out that you listen to? My tastes are so varied that I can't be penned down to one kind. A majority of my 6,000+ songs are Rock and R&B, with alittle Pop and Rap mixed in. The 10 artists I have the most of are Jefferson AIrplane(of course!), The Supremes, The Monkees, The Beatles, Diana Ross, Donna Summer, Martha And The Vandellas, The 5th Dimension, Paul McCartney, and Tina Turner. As soon as I have collected the complete "Jefferson" of both Airplane and Starship, I will work on The Doors and The Dead.

lots of hiphop, i would be here all day if i started naming bands buts lots of real hip hop, rock, reggae, a bit of soul, jazz etc.
and plenty of electronic type stuff lik chemical brothers, daft punk, the prodigy, aphex twin etc.

I listen mostly the good old sixties and early seventies groups. Floyd, early Genesis (with Peter Gabriel), Soft Machine, Cream, The Who, Spencer David Group, naturally THE BEATLES and Beatles solo, etc. etc..
but I love for example Travis, REM, early 80s U2 as well.

Almost anything as long as it is played with feeling. My band is mostly blues rock. We play lots of Tuna, Allman Brothers, Cream & Hendrix, but I enjoy country, reggae & progressive bands like King Crimson & the Strawbs. Going to see John McLaughlin & Chick Corea next week.

If you are really into psychedelic music: check out the United States of America. One album only, originally issued in 1968. But there was a fine reissue by Sundazed some years back. The band had a good female singer, Dorothy Moskowitz, who did sound like a cross between Signe and Grace in some of the songs, especially in "Hard Coming Love" (now, that sounds promising, doesn't it). Don't expect anything like the Airplane though: Lots of synthesizers.

Apart from all the psychedelic music (my favourites of this kind are Janis, Jefferson, and Great! Society), I also enjoy The Cranberries very much. I think the vocalist is soooo charismatic and original! Their songs are very captivating, too. But I also love System Of A Down, even though it's rather a heavy metal band - but those of You who know those guys will agree that they're incredible! I like Metallica, Disturbed (kind of heavy music:) ) and some others.

And! I'd like to recommend a great psychedelic band - it's called Rebecca and The Sunnybrook Farmers. They recorded only one album, it's name is 'Birth', but it's unbelievably good! In my opinion the melodies and the musicians are exceptionally great! I hope some of You know and like it too

"Doll's House" is one of my faves. It's such a baroque production! I originally got it because Family were from Leicester, my home town. I bought a lot of LPs unheard for trivial reasons in those days.
