I'm not sure if comment will clog things up here, but thanks for the good work, OKD. I never looked very closely at this thread before because of my adversion to the word "cool"... I liked the Counterpunch interview, and Grace's version of tact when she tells the interviewer most of her fans are stupid but she's OK. That cracked me up!

As for Grace's statement that most of her fans are stupid I dont blame her.Maybe she read some of my posts.That's our Gracie-always outspoken.That's one thing among the others that I like about her.
I think she scorns idolatry as a blind, worshiping devotion to someone which is often a sign of mental disorder when it comes to adults.
A continious commercialized pop culture produce collective idolization which has a mass idiocy as a consequence. A loosers in their personal lives often try to compensate their failures by identifying with public figures.The old girl has a foul mouth but I think she knew very well what was she talking about when she said that.

It is a differrent when it comes to adolescents.They tend to idolize celebrities and identify themselves with them and give them an abstract qualities they want for themselves.It a is part of creating the person(too often in a wrong way) they want to be.It is a part of growing up called identity crisis.I don't think she refferred to them when she said that.(I wrote this because I didn't want to upset the kids)

Saying what you think is admirable, up to a point. I can't do it all the time because I worry about hurting people's feelings, but that leads to trouble too. I'm English, you know. So, no, I'm not upset about that remark, and you're not stupid. However, "Sssh-you-know-who" really WAS a fuckwit.
