RIDICULOUSNESS!!! Seriously GS should be on there.....she may not be the best vocalist by the very definition of the word - but the raw power of her voice shredded women's roles in music and paved the way for women in rock!!! She belongs right up there w/ Janis. This list pisses me off! I don't see how Mariah Carey can get on this list just for screaming, or damn Mary J. Blige, but not GRACE??? BLASPHEMY!

Aretha Franklin? #1? i don't get it....

she may not be the best vocalist by the very definition of the word but the overall impression of her beats them all.She was the trailblazer for female rockers and she wrote the manual.She he was the incarnation of the sixties and of all what the sixties represented.A provocateur with deep insight.A powerful and mesmerizing woman when she was in her prime.
And she still is.

Yes, I am gender biased - I'm a sucker for women that kick ass. I know - it's blasphemy to some of you that GS is (gasp) #2, but I have to say Patsy Cline was the original rebel. You wouldn't guess it by listening to her sweeping love songs, but if you research her a bit you'll find she was a hardass who wouldn't take crap from anybody! I love it! Just too bad I didn't exist in her time....
