What was your first favorite song?

The first song that was a favorite of mine was "Puff the Magic Dragon" by Peter, Paul , and Mary. I was about 3 or 4.

I guess I have a thing for elusive drug reference songs....

"Bobby's Girl" by Marcie Blane, partly because my best friend of the time was a Bobby. I liked "Puff", but thought it a bit too sad.

My very first fav song, eh? Hmm...geez...I can't remember that far back!!

I remember liking Puff, and Yellow Submarine, and also Food Glorious Food...lol. But my earliest memory of being truly moved by a song, was when I was 4 years old and bored out of my brain in kindergarten nap time (I never slept. I found it ridiculous to be forced to sleep during the day!! Now I WISH I had nap time every day! *yawn*), and I had Total Eclipse of the Heart running through my head. I'd heard it many times before and I loved it (my mum had it on a tape of her's), and I was crying with my face in my pillow, "listening" in my head to this song I found so beautiful.

Somewhat of a deep 4 year old I was. lol

As a young kid I used to like alot of the songs on Sesame Street, especially Somebody Come and Play. Other early favorites were A Hard Day's Night which I first heard done by the Chipmunks, then my sister turned me on to the Beatles' original, Men at Work's Who Can it Be Now and Be Good Johnny and the Who's Pinball Wizard which I heard around age seven.

I also got into Jefferson Airplane/ Starship when I was a kid in the 80's through my dad being so into them. At the time my dad actually didn't mind the mid 80's Starship albums at all but now he's gone off them so I have a lot of memories of hearing Kneedeep in the Hoopla and No Protection. I can still remember my early favorites from each permutation of the group, from Jefferson Airplane my favorite was She Has Funny Cars, from Jefferson Starship it was Fast Buck Freddie and from Starship it was Babylon. Babylon remains one of the only Starship tracks I can get into.

I remember Somebody Come & Play on Sesame Street!! That was a really nice, gentle song, eh? I loved the images of the animals playing too that went along with it.

Other Sesame Street songs I liked were the joke ones, like the brushing the teeth one that was meant to be like a Cyndi Lauper song. And the Cooperation song when they were making a street garden. And then that song by Ernie about visiting the moon. That was sweet.

I think my first favorite song waaasss...hmm. You know, I can't remember? I'll just stick with "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion, since Titanic has always been my favorite movie. I listened to that soundtrack obsessively*.

First favorite Airplane song? Somebody To Love. It opened up the Jefferson Airplane door to me. And what a wonderful door that was opened, yes?
Though, before I discovered Airplane, I was in love with the Starship's "Tomorrow Doesn't Matter Tonight"...I still like that song, too.

I can remmember my first favourite song was Riders on the Storm by The Doors.My parents played The Doors ALOOOT when i was just a toddler when we lived in an apartment in Florida and we had records during the mid-1990s.Since then weve switched to CDs, but i started by own record collection a couple years ago when i started getting into JA.

Nobody in my family (not on my father's side, not on my mother's side) ever played or listened to music. My childhood was silent. Except for ten minutes' news broadcasts. When I was twelve I discovered that the radio had a lot more to offer. Pop music! That kind of music was very hard to find as well on the radio as in the record shops. I managed to get a small portable recordplayer and bought myself my first four singles ever, among which one of my all time favorites and the first song that hypnotised me: "My Guy" by Mary Welsh.
And then, though it took some time, I became the first musician (and still the only one) in my family.
Funny, don't you think, those genetics?
