Anyone Here Make Your Own Music?

Does anyone make their own music/songs here? My partner and I are trying to do our own stuff, which is really fun but I’m constantly stressed and discouraged at my own lack of ability and talent. I want to make really GOOD, interesting music, you know?

I feel kinda cool sometimes when I sit in my home studio with my headphones on my head, and my keyboard set up and stuff…lol. *lame*

I have this image of a video clip I want to make, which is kinda weird. It’s these 2 muppet-like people (myself and my partner wearing long beards and fluffy eyebrows and fake noses) sitting in the back of an ice cream truck, me playing the keyboard and my partner playing the guitar, and our long beards are becoming more and more entangled in the instruments as we play, but we keep playing. Lol.

Does anyone here play an instrument? I TRY to play the keyboard/piano, recorder and drums (on the computer. I don’t have a drum kit). My partner plays guitar and bass.

OK, I won't be a coward. When I was younger I used to be in a band. I played several instruments moderately badly. I used to write songs. May I be of assistance?

What did you play and how badly? lol

I can't play anything properly. I just play it all by ear and have to record my tracks all separately cause I can't keep it up for long enough to do it totally "live". (I have to try and remember everything I've just played and it can get hard if the song is long. lol)

Drums, bass, keyboard, mostly. I got to Grade One on the piano before I lost interest. The other instruments are self-taught. My drumming would be OK, but I lack stamina. I can play guitar a little, but only on my own, and recorder (naturally!), though I prefer my Melodica. I haven't played in a group for years because the people moved apart, and I've been putting my creative energy into comic strips instead. I really think I'm better at art than music. I can sell my art; no-one ever paid me to play! It was just for fun, really.

I want to actually try and get people to want to pay for my musical creations...lol *delusional*

I don't know if that's possible though...I doubt I'm talented enough or interesting enough for the masses.

I've played bass guitar since 1975, with various local bands. Never did any recording though. Being a non singing bassist, I play what the singers want to sing- everything from bluegrass, blues, reggae, phychedelic & original rock. I still get together with my first guitarist friend who knows tons of electric Hot Tuna & a few JA tunes as well.

I tried to sing and play bass at the same time, but I couldn't do it. I'd end up singing the notes I was playing. It's much easier to do if you're just playing chords on a guitar or organ.

Well, thank you, OKD, but I'm strictly an amateur when it comes to music, and I haven't played for years. As for your English, don't worry, it's fine! I sometimes wonder what CD is driving at, but you come through loud and clear.

I play bass.Ive been playing since i was 13, about three years ago, and have had no lessons(one guitar lesson) and i cant say i know how to technicly "play" proffesionaly, but i know quite a few songs, and come up with my own stuff(styles kinda like Chris Squire and Jack Casady mixed, although obviously not ANYWHERE nearly as good, i actually shouldnt have even said their names, i would be insulting them), but i never remmember the stuff i come up with, so i usually just jam.Ive tried Guitar, drums and piano, but none of them really got to me like bass.My dad is a bassist too, and he really got me into it.Im really looking to make a career in music.

I play guitar and bass as well as a passable amount of piano.

I love singing (I've been told I sound like Grace), and writing my own songs. Wow.... I need a band sooooo badly!

This is something I did on computer back in 2007, it could be a bit better, I wish I could have gotten the tempos of the various elements co-ordinated better but that's life.
