Damn shame that the 2 who passed away were argueably the best at their craft. Never seeing John Entwistle perform has always been a big regret of mine...
Wonder what "Long forgotten tunes" Daltry and Townsend have in mind?

My brother saw them on the farewell tour in the '80s.

Now I am confused.
They are extremely uncomfortable with the idea that I am a teenage girl in the body of a 60 year old career criminal who has already died 16 times...

I'm always confused...
No confusion over this being a great band - what do you need to know?

Still able to leave the young bands in the shade. Just seen them at 'T in the park' they still rock. But for the life of me I don't understand the thinking behind the release of the new single 'Wire & Glass'. What a piss poor effort, for what?
20 odd years, and that's the best they can come up with.

Yes... It IS true: THE WHO were at one time capable of ascending to the greatest heights to which "rock" can aspire...

However...

They have pretty much bitten the proverbial big weenie ever since Moon The Loon departed for drunker pastures...

Any integrity or credibility they once had dissolved years ago... Like around the time of that first tour that followed their "Final Farewell" tour back in 1982...

Then Mr. Townshend, always a disagreeable, bulbous-nose-in-the-air elitist sack o' shit, gets busted for downloading child pornography.

Of course, since he is a multi-platinum "rock star', he weasels his way out of paying the debt to society for his egregious transgressions...

And now THE WHO is BACK and BETTER THAN EVER!!!

Really it is more like "1/2 WHO"...

And if you think that I am the one who is being cynical here, then you should read the Townshend interview in the most recent issue of ROLLING STONE magazine.

Make you wanna puke it will...

That he is a-proud-to-be-a-mega-Star ,
that doesn't matter. There are many of them.
But that about child porn....hard to believe.....
I wish you give us all the source of that....
I would like to read it.....i like their music....
But if THAT stuff is true, NO more Who !!!!!!

Porn with children is a crime !!!!!!!
Children = Younger than about 16.....

What kind of man likes to have
sex with children ???...

I don't agree with you Don. True, it's not the Who at their greatest by any stretch of the imagination. But then no one has claimed 'And now THE WHO is BACK and BETTER THAN EVER!!! '
The raw energy has diminished, but the music is still as good. Live, I reckon anyone but a real aficionado could pick holes in Moons and Entwistles replacements. In fact I personally think the way they handle the old clasics now is in many ways better than in the past. Now they really do have to think about the music, rather than leaping around and trashing the equipment if they want to stand out from the zillions of Ramones wannabes. And stand out they do, still.
As for Townsends perversions, you're right. If he is guilty, then he should be strung up by the balls with the rest of them. But, that should in no way diminish the music.

    Unfortunately, child porn and abuse is one of the MAJOR social plagues of our "NEAT" times..you know....the NEW WORLD ORDER.....OMFG!!!!!!
Rock stars like Gary Glitter and dozens of others seem to be involved and that really sux. But as good 'ol Lemmy sings in his "Don't let daddy kiss me" shows us the the WORST CRIME OF ALL is when fathers ABUSE of their own children......or EVEN priests at that....the USA, Italy and Belgium are full of these VERY sick people!!! :x 8)

######Don't Let Daddy Kiss Me

Little girl sleeping in dreams of peace
Mommy been gone a long time
Daddy comes home and she still sleeps
Waiting for the world worst crime
And he comes up the stairs like he always does

And he never turns on the light
And she's wide awake, scared to death
She smells his lust and she smells his sweat
Curled in a ball she holds her breath

Praying to a God that she's never met
Don't let Daddy kiss me, don't let Daddy kiss me
Goodnight

Little girl lies by her Daddy's side
And she listens to him breathe
She knows there's something awful wrong
That she's far too young to see

And she knows she can't tell anyone
She's too full of guilt and shame
And if she tells she'll be all alone
They'd steal her Daddy and they'd steal her home

And it's not so bad when Daddy leaves her alone
Praying to her God with his heart of stone
Don't let Daddy kiss me, don't let Daddy kiss me
Goodnight

Why, tell me why,
The worst crime, in the world

And so Daddy lies by his daughter's side
And he sleeps deep and well
No nightmares come to him tonight
Though his daughter lives in hell

For his seed is sown where it should not be
But the beast in his mind don't care
And the only sound are tears that fell
Little girl turns her face to the wall

She knows that no-one hears her call
But it seems that God hears nothing at all
Don't let Daddy kiss me, don't let Daddy kiss me
Goodnight

It takes two to know...

Postby jimmie ray on Fri Jul 21, 2006 6:48 pm

I was a little staggered, too, at first - by the accusations against Pete. He admitted to having that in his possesion, but only as "research material" for aiding the fight against child porn. He is known to be an active voice on that subject. But hypocrites are everywhere... No accusations of actually molesting anyone, so relative to Gary Glitter - it's not that big a crime. Honestly, when I've clicked on some tantalizing sites for what I would consider "normal XXX", there was titles like "Little Lolitas", and such...
Now Don Rico can reply with "perv"!!!

THAT's IT !!!!!!
Media and their crappy stuff !!!!

Imagine this ;

He did have 4 pictures on his harddisk...
(for that anti-child-porn thing...)
He did look at it...
But NOT with sex in mind !!!
He does have a NORMAL sexual behavior...

Then an asshole who did hate The Who...
Or doesn't like the way he play guitar...
Aha !...now i have something to f*ck 'm !!!
Phone call to media is enough !

Then people reading that crap...
Postings all over the world in forums...
All these music-experts are talking about it...
"....Guitar player does have child porn !...."
Allmost NO ONE does know what's goin' on.

If he did kill a dog with his hands ?
No one would ever know it.....
But child porn ?...
A man that "needs" that crap should
lose his head on that French thing....

Media = they can build , they can destroy...

I do know that Pete was somehow molested as a kid.
And the story tells that he went to a shrink.
That certain shrink told him to do something against the abuse of other childs and try to deal with his past at the same time.
That was the main reason he downloaded it, to use it against people who put it on the web.
Other rumours are that it's about pictures of people around 14 yrs.

The fact that it wasn't thrown into the media like the case Gary Glitter says enough for me.
And I don't believe that Pete is guilty...
As a person he did more for society then many of us (ok, he's got the tools) and we should appreciate him.
