Go To Her was originally on the album Early Flight. Another of my fav Aiplane tunes is on there- Up Or Down, written by Peter Kaukonen.

Fav tune is a tough one so i broke it down by member:

I'm a huge JK fan, so of coarse his tunes are the standouts for me.

for a JK original I like Trial By Fire & Star Track

for a JK cover I like Good Shepherd or Uncle Sam Blues

not a huge Marty fan however Plastic Fantastic off Blessed is F'n fantastic!!

for Paul I'd go with Wooden Ships, I prefer this one over CSN's version

for a Paul cover Other side is great

for Grace i'd go with Lather

Nice twist FT. The thing I love about JA is every member is a real talent. 8)

okies,
Grace - Greasy heart
Paul - Twilight double leader (I dunno why!)
Marty - Comin' back to me
Jorma - The last wall of the castle

aw, I feel sorry for Spencer & Jack now so I'll give honourable mentions to "A Small Package of Value..." and "Long John Silver"

talking about early flight,
is mexico included in any other tapes?
somebody posted a couple of different recordings of it and I loved them but I don't know if they are only bootlegs or official tracks??

Allo Zeke,

Mexico tends to turn up on most of the JA's best-of albums, it's definately on 2400 Fulton Street but it's not on "The Worst of.." as that album pre-dates it's release.

I have a double CD called "The Essential Jefferson Airplane" (RCA Legacy 82876 67917 2) which has a version of Mexico which just seems slightly different to normal, the piano seems a lot more in the foreground..I'm not sure if this is the one you're meaning. I don't know if that CD has an international release but you might be able to pick it up on ebay or amazon.

Hope this helps.

hi there!
I don't have any JA best of albums, in fact I don't have all of the JA albums. I don't have bark and long john silver. it took about two years to find the rest :)

hey,

well if you only get 1 JA best-of I'd recommend 2400 Fulton Street, it's a bit sparse on the Long John Silver material (only has "Eat Starch Mom" on the CD version).

I found a cheap (-ish) way of getting hold of Bark and LJS by buying the Japanese card sleeve versions, (they're like ickle-baby LPs but they're CDs, really cute!) :) I got 'em off the 'net but I've no idea how easy it would be to order them from Turkey though...

All the best.

argh I'm sick of buying from the net. half of the stuff I got online was broken when I received. I don't buy records any more, only lego parts :)

My Favorite J.A. songs

Postby craigtheairplaneman on Sat Oct 14, 2006 1:50 am

Greetings all:

Great question. The J.A. is one band that there are several songs that rotate as being my favorite. This is in no order:

J.P.P. McStep B. Blues (One of the most underrated tunes ever).

3/5 Of A Mile In 10 Seconds (The book title comes from a lyric in the song).

The Ballad Of You And Me And Pooneil

Today (Too great for words)

Volunteers

We Can Be Together

She Has Funny Cars

There cover of Get Together that they often called Let's Get Together.

Thanks for letting me answer

Craig The Airplane Man
"Craig Fenton knows so much about the J.A. and Family, I was asking him the questions."
Marty Balin July 2006.

"Take Me To A Circus Tent" is here. With many 5 star reviews already!! 93 photos 543 pages!
Thanks for flying with the J.A.

Well Zeke, I just ordered Long John Silver and I haven't got Bark and Winterland, so you are not the only one.
It is easy to find those records, but I don't know how the situation in Turkey is.
However, maybe it's possible to order them from a dutch site?

I regugarly order from this site, with international shipping payments of 5,55 euro.
I don't know what the value in Turkey is, but maybe this will be something for you.

Well only having been listening to them for about a year or so, I hav'nt heard all their material yet but I really like 'Wooden Ships' (I believe this is a cover though), 'We Can Be Together' and 'Today'. Unfortunatley my little boy has fatally scratched my Best of album with 'Wooden Ships' on it, so I've got to get another copy!
