Postby denilson on Mon Apr 03, 2006 4:13 pm

Hello people, I'm from Curitiba - Paraná - Brasil.
I will go try a communication, but I know few the english language.
So, I like very much the songs of Starship, but, the song "Nothing gonna stop us now " is amazing, songwriter and voices are perfects.
Now I do myself collection of DVDs, and I don't find the song include in DVDs that I search. You can help me?

That's the song from the movie "Mannequin". Kind of like "Plastic Fantastic Lover", as far as the theme?

Though not a fan of starship, i heard this for the first time in ages on the radio the other day and was amazed at how like grace slick grace slick sounds :? . With an airplane sound behind I think it would have fit in on almost any early LP. Discuss....

I feel like you're baiting us, willie - but O.K...
That song, modified, on early JA? No way! By time you trimmed off the parts that don't fit, you might as well just start from scratch. I'd give it to "Vanilla Fudge" for the modification process, and let them slow it down - by a factor of 4 or so...
But if it draws some new fans to the eventual discovery of the real stuff - the real JA, or Hot Tuna, even - then it's served a useful purpose!

Is there still "something" going on between
people from California and people from Texas ?

Neil Young - Alabama
on the cd Harvest

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama

Well I heard mister Young sing about her
Well, I heard ole Neil put her down
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember
A Southern man don't need him around anyhow

Old Neil is not welcome in the south....
he wasn't nice to Alabama ?

It's because of Neil's "Southern Man" that the folks in Skynyrd took offense...

Cheers,

You got me Jimmy, I was baiting. I'm not a Forum, internet chat type, but i do surf and the thing that i love about coming here is how open and non judgemental you guys are. Not one person felt it necessary to point out the difference between the music we all know and love and songs like 'noting gonna.....' Any other fansite would have torn denilson to shreds for not being 'pure'.

And on that out pouring....why don't i know anything about vanilla fudge....and what should i know?

I think Vanilla Fudge was formed in the late 60's / early 70's. I saw them 2 years ago - it was a good show, but they could use a better singer. I don't know if that was a reunion or if they have been together on/off all this time?
They had a pyschedelic sound, but were most famous for taking popular songs and slowing them down and adding long jams into them. "Set Me Free (why don't you, babe)" was "their" only "hit", that I know of - and it's quite awesome! Carmiane Apice is their drummer, and should be a familiar name to some - he had some connection to Rod Stewart.
