dreams?

Now that were talking solo albums- I love the album Dreams. Seasons is a guilty little pleasure of mine! I feel like Grace has grown up a little with this album- although I do love and adore her sarcasm!

I never heard that album; can anyone describe this one?
'Manhole' is an album that has to grow on me.
Some pretty nice tunes on that...but how do you rate that album?

Hey IS

I do love "Manhole", the title track is an amazing piece of music which I play a lot. Come Again Toucan is another track I have a lot of time for, I just love it's relaxed pace and very seventies sound.

However, as much as I love Manhole, it never really seems like a bona-fide solo album to me, due to the number of tracks which Grace doesn't play a large part in (or any part in ie- "it's only music") All these songs are great but I would rather they'd held them over for future JS albums.

Whereas "Dreams" is just .. ooo.. how can I describe it? It's sumptuous, velvety and rich in orchestration. Grace sounds fantastic with an orchestra and I really wish she'd done another album like this rather than going down the road of "Welcome to the Wrecking Ball" but, hey..that's Grace for you..always contrary!

Side One of Dreams is 5 individual tracks - Dreams / El Diablo / Face to the Wind / Angel of Night / Seasons... all of them great pieces of music.

Side Two is almost a mini-concept piece. It relates to Grace's time in rehab, recovering from alcohol addiction though the lyrics only refer to that rather obliquely. Tracks are Do It The Hard Way / Full Moon Man / Let It Go / Garden of Man.

The whole package, from the beautiful cover (in my avatar), to the production, to the performances, is an underrated masterpiece in my humble opinion.

If anyone is trying to get hold of this album, I was able to get it from caiman usa via amazon.com (and no - they're not paying me for saying that!) :wink:

I heard some songs on Grace her MySpace site and it sound really great.

Being a fan....I will buy it, without a doubt!!!
It's just that some of the Starship music does not satisfie me.
If this album is OK, I will trust your opinions peepzz.
One thing is for sure: buying a Grace album is scoring some points.... :wink:

i personally loved what little ive gotten a hold of of 'welcome to the wrecking ball' and 'software' is a disappointment of epic proportions beyond 'I just dont stop' but yes, 'dreams' is insanely good.
i am not entirely in love with the song 'dreams' but i like the rest of the album well enough to make up for it('let it go', 'face to the wind', love them all really.) 'Do it the hard way' will always be my second favorite grace song(the first being obvious.)
manhole is just ok... not good. not bad. just ok. 'better lying down' was great.

Great song, very very nice indeed...
I was blown away when I heard it on Grace's MySpace site.
That song made me curious of the rest of the album.
I'm gonna find out if I can get it here in Holland.
Manhole is a nice album, that's for sure....some great songs on it.
'Baron Von Tollbooth And The Chrome Nun' is even better on this moment.

I do love music dvd's too, but sometimes I prefer a cd or LP.
1 question: have you ever listened to 'Tollbooth'?
What a great album it is, I advice you to buy it; Grace in her prime!!!!

Ik heb op sommige plaatsen gezien
dat 't wel 3 of 4 weken kan duren...

Moeten ze die per roeiboot in de states halen ?

Ik heb 'Blows Against The Empire'. 'Sunfighter' en 'Baron Von Tollbooth' allemaal op Nederlandse sites besteld.
De eerste via bol.com (1 week) en de andere twee ongeveer 2/3 weken (themusicsafe.com).
Maar dan heb je ook wat

Deze cd's kan je in de Nederlandse winkels niet kopen en komen uit het buitenland.
Dat verklaard de levertijd voor een groot deel.
