I think Crown Of Creation is one of my favorites. Aside from the ones I hold dearly (White Rabbit/Sombody To Love; they opened the door into the JA world) that and The Ballad Of You, Me and Pooneil are my favorites. I listen to them constantly!

I love other songs by them of course. I love almost everything by them. They're fantastic. So, my opinion is biased since I love them so much, but who cares? JA rules us all and that's the end of that.

If someone asked me "What did they sound like?" and I only had time to play one track, I think I'd choose She Has Funny Cars. I don't think it's the greatest thing they ever did, though. I've got no idea what the greatest thing they ever did was. My opinion depends on my mood.

I think that the most popular are:

1.Somebody To Love
2.White Rabbit
3.Volunteers
4.Wooden Ships
5.Crown Of Creation

My personal favorite not on the list would have to be "Lather"... Yeah "Lather" It's hard to pick, but that was the first song to pop into my head. "Watch Her Ride", "Coming Back To Me", and "Good Shepherd" are good. I think Grace Slick once said that "Today" was her favorite Marty Balin song.

Pillow is a great album...just listen it, close your eyes and you'll feel that you're back in late 1966/early 1967.
There are beautiful harmonies on the album...
And yes, 'Comin' back to me' is a beautiful song written by Marty Balin.

I like the heavier JA tunes like House At Pooneil, but Comin Back To Me is one of the most beautiful songs written.

ESKIMO BLUE DAY is my favorite, followed by HEY FREDRICK, and after that many are tied for a very close third favorite. J. A. are my favorite non-blues-based rock band, if you agree there has been such a thing.

So, there is Hot Tuna... And i like THAT sometimes more than JA's music !
These 2 men are just great.

And at least 1 member from this forum is a VERY lucky one !
gTarFreak (Dave) is more than 1x on the farm from Jorma and he can play some
guitar over there with the 2 masters from JA.

I hadn't thought about it until I read this, but I worked at a small club where I heard Jorma in about 1980 or '81, and I know what you mean about the range he has. Great. Thanks...

Jimmie Rae, I thought I was the only one who liked Go To Her!! I LOVE that song.

My favorites are Two Heads, The Ballad of You and Me and Pooneil, Plastic Fantastic Lover, and She Has Funny Cars.

My favorite album is After Bathing at Baxter's. It is so underappreciated!

Blues from an Airplane
Let Me In
And I Like it (especially the 8 minute version)
She Has Funny Cars (especially in it's mono mix)
DCAB 25 (I don't get why fans don't like this, I think it's one of the group's best folk rock songs)
JPP McStep Blues (some beautiful vocal work on that one)
Somebody to Love (my favorite way to hear it is the live 1969 version on the Volunteers reissue, it's so aggressive)
The Ballad of You Me and Poohneil (I love live versions where they strectch out the song and Jack goes crazy on the bass)
Martha
Rejoyce
In Time
Triad
Share a Little Joke
We Can Be Together
Hey Frederick (especially the alternate take on the boxed set)
Turn My Life Down (for me one of the most underrated Airplane songs)
Crazy Miranda
Law Man (especially in mixes with heavy emphasis on the drum part)
Pretty as You Feel
War Movie
Aeire
Easter
Alexander the Medium
Eat Starch Mom (makes me imagine Grace Slick sitting in with the Stooges)
Freedom (I think the best moment from the uneven reunion album, and should have been the single and music video release from the album)

I absolutely love DCBA-25, and am glad I'm not alone, TakeMeOnYourFlight! I think that it has some of the best lyrics. In my opinion, it would make a great psychedelic love song.
