Awwww... thanks!

I do actually have music for it. Writing songs is just about the most fun I can have, and I'm getting better at it. As soon as I get some stuff up on youtube, I'll post links. I have one song up already, but my vocal sounds bad.

Soon, soon.

That's beautiful! Right up there with Joni Mitchel's Woodstock. Today's Society needs that song out there...

Or a lyric like;

There's a new controlled substance, the American People....
Where have all the young men gone?
Long time ago
Gone for soldiers every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Well, you're all quite generous. In case anyone's interested, here's another part of the same song:

I think about the way things used to be
When speaking out was in style
I know it couldn’t happen now because we’ve become too blind
If we sang songs are carried signs, they’d only say hooray for our side

And I am not Stephen Stills incarnate. The Buffalo Springfield reference was completely on purpose.
Trouble in mind, lord I'm blue
But I won't be blue always
The sun's gonna shine in my door,
Shine in my back door someday

We need more actual songwriters today.I think record companies cornered what was popular in music in the 1980s, and demolished actual songwriting, and just create a beat to dance to with words that they can make a music video around today, and give it to the next "hottest" woman who will wear the least clothes and shake the most ass.Im sick of the music industry today.Sick of it.

Im really liking your song plasticfantastic, you got a name for it?I would post some of my stuff but Im too heavily influenced by the likes of King Crimson and Pink Floyd that I doubt it will make much sense here unless you are familiar with them.

I agree. The music industry is nearly dead, but hopefully more good songwriters and singers with substance will save it... I hope... Music now is all about the surface now, not what's inside of it. Our society has become too superficial to care about songs with meaning. Music became all about money in the latter part of the 20th century, and it still hasn't really recovered.

Right now, the song's working title is "Nobody's Gonna Change The World", but that could always change. I will post this song on youtube once I get a chance to record it, but I can now post the complete lyrics I came up with:

Sitting by the river
Watching the sun come through the clouds
Seeing shapes move in the dust, hearing music in the wind
I look at the people running ‘round
Rushing everywhere they go
I just sit back and sigh, because I know

NOBODY’S GONNA CHANGE THE WORLD IF THEY DON’T CHANGE THEMSELVES
HOW CAN WE WAIT FOR BETTER DAYS IF WE DON’T CHANGE OUR WAYS?
WE ONLY BREAK EACH OTHER’S HEARTS BECAUSE OURS ARE BROKEN TOO
SO DON’T TRY TO CHANGE SOMEONE ‘TIL SOMETHING CHANGES YOU

I think about the way things used to be
When speaking out was in style
I know it couldn’t happen now because we’ve become too blind
If we sang songs are carried signs, they’d only say hooray for our side

NOBODY’S GONNA CHANGE THE WORLD IF THEY DON’T CHANGE THEMSELVES
HOW CAN WE WAIT FOR BETTER DAYS IF WE DON’T CHANGE OUR WAYS?
WE ONLY BREAK EACH OTHER’S HEARTS BECAUSE OURS ARE BROKEN TOO
SO DON’T TRY TO CHANGE YOUR BROTHER ‘TIL SOMETHING CHANGES YOU

I think about the way we crowd around
The smallest things and make them news
We blow up money, love, and fights, whatever we put our sights on
Meanwhile a hundred people die, too far away from us to cry

NOBODY’S GONNA CHANGE THE WORLD IF THEY DON’T CHANGE THEMSELVES
HOW CAN WE WAIT FOR BETTER DAYS IF WE DON’T CHANGE OUR WAYS?
WE ONLY BREAK EACH OTHER’S HEARTS BECAUSE OURS ARE BROKEN TOO
SO DON’T TRY TO CHANGE SOMEONE ‘TIL SOMETHING CHANGES YOU

Sometimes I close my eyes and try to cry, but who can cry when they are numb?
They pound us with more than we can take ‘til we can’t take it anymore
And when we cry, we don’t know why, but we just don’t care anymore

I think about the way people watch
Other people’s lives on TV
I watch them pray like hungry dogs ‘til they can only pick at bones
Then someone else has been destroyed for someone’s enjoyment

NOBODY’S GONNA CHANGE THE WORLD IF THEY DON’T CHANGE THEMSELVES
HOW CAN WE WAIT FOR BETTER DAYS IF WE DON’T CHANGE OUR WAYS?
WE ONLY BREAK EACH OTHER’S HEARTS BECAUSE OURS ARE BROKEN TOO
SO DON’T TRY TO CHANGE SOMEONE ‘TIL SOMETHING CHANGES YOU

The verses are indented, the bridges are the regular text, and the chorus is in all caps. I admit, VERY weird song form, but whatever.

DEFINITELY post some of your stuff! I know I love Pink Floyd and King Crimson, and there are other people on this foru m who probably do as well.

I read the song and I love it. I'm gonna show it to my wife.

I have absolutely no musical talent, so that is what I'm about to show you.

These are more thoughts, than lyrics or a song.

Until one day the Governments called for another foreign war
Only no one showed up to fight the war from either side
The world went silent for awhile
slowly the bustle of life came back
Instead of new weapons they made new teas
some teas cured cancer
some cured hips and knees
and there was peace on all the earth
the human race had found its God
It was just peace amongst themselves
that opened the doors to the universe
and limitless resources around.

I love that! I'd call it a poem, not just straight thoughts.

I especially love the line "Instead of new weapons they made new teas." Sounds quite nice. The world would be far better place if people drank tea every day.

By the way, I decided to post a link to the youtube video of one of my songs that I posted earlier. NOT a good take, and I sound terrible, but if you like my songwriting, you may like it. I wrote it with a friend early last year, and both of us have improved in many respects since we recorded this. It's not like any other song I've written, much softer and folkier than most of mine, but is nevertheless okay.

I like the bit about the "hungry dogs", PF. I'm sure there's envy and hate lurking in the worship of the famous.

Wow.Plasticfantastic, I wanna make an album with you, seriously.Thats all I can say...and you have a great voice from what I could tell from that recording.

...I guess I can post a song of mine.I call it Subconscience Part One(its a two-parter).Its still incomplete though, needs work, and a line or two wont make sense, and its also not near my best, so dont judge too harshly.

Wake up
Wake up and realise
In a spell
Youre all living lies
When you watch and how you see
Is how you hear and the way you think
Is it real
Do you sink
Into subconscience

Fade
Fade to black
Realise were living on a track
Running the race for the man
Crying in fear for a few grains of sand
In a distant land

Sometimes it makes me wonder
Why we go on like this
Maybe lifes just a blunder
Maybe its ruled by the man down under
The man with an aim
A distant man with a cause
Who rules us all with applause

Go on
Go on and live
Destroy the wall of plastic
Find whats realistic
You know it was all fantastic
Before the gun
Before we won
What we call war

Then it goes into another song, and after that it goes into part two...
Hide, Witch, Hide!
The Good Folks come to Burn Thee
Their Keen Enjoyment hid Behind
The Gothic Mask of Duty!

Thank you so much!!! Listening to the track again, it may not be quite a bad a vocal as I remembered... If you liked this, you should wait and see me when I sound good! I'll be posting more on my account soon.

Reallly cool lyrics. Great job, especially on the "fade to black" part. Do you have a youtube account? You should post this song.

Yours and mine can be the first two tracks on our album.

I changed the next line to
...
Instead of new weapons they made new teas
some teas cured cancer
...

Didn't want to leave the coffee drinkers out...and it sounded like teas and cancer cures were 2 different things.

The song of yours had it all.

Perhaps if I'd been sweeter then
I wouldn't be alone.

Must be a half dozen or more of these ear catchers. You do have a beautiful voice. It was engrossing. It was great IMHO.
