Jefferson Airplane & Donovan

Postby Jessica on Mon Jan 30, 2006 9:28 am

Hello all,

I'm researching a documentary on Donovan and wondered if any of you could help.

I know that Donovan was an early fan of the band, and name checked them in Fat Angel, which the band later covered.
Who would be the best member of the band to speak to about Donovan and this song?

Thanks very much for your help!

Getting on board...

I would guess: Marty Balin
But how accessible are the various members to someone they don't know?
Unless you took music lessons at Jorma's ranch - that might give you time to chat with him or Jack Casady...
It's good times now - I can see the light!

Donovan recently published an autobiography - at least it's been published here in the UK, and while I haven't read it yet I expect there's something from Donovan in print about any Airplane connections - plus Donovan has been gigging here recently, he did a show at the Glasgow branch of Borders Books connected to the book launch (this is around last October) so perhaps he's more amenable to discussing what he was doing 40 years ago than any actual JA/S members
