Discovered Performance Treasures

Postby FirstBassman on Thu Dec 15, 2005 3:58 pm

As some of you may know, a gentleman named Bill Sagan some time back purchased a warehouse full of stuff from the Fillmore and sells the items online under the name Wolfgang's Vault. [Bill Graham’s (an escapee from Nazi Europe) real first name was Wolfgang.]

Well, it turns out that Mr. Sagan has supposedly discovered that the archives contained over 5,000 live audio and video recordings made between 1966 and 1999, including the Airplane!

Reportedly Bill Thompson (former JA manager) is negotiating on release of the material. That would be absolutely amazing. Hope it happens VERY soon.

Various Jefferson Airplane recordings from Bill Grahams venues are already bootlegged. I have heard some recordings from the Fillmore, and the sound quality is superb on those. It could take a while to hear them, because a lot of band managers are trying to get they’re hands on the recordings of they’re bands, and the material is not that well catalogued from what I’ve heard. I’m dying to hear some live recordings from lesser known SF groups also :D

I realy hope that they publish these recordings.
And there is always that f*ckin' thing like money.....
Somebody would make them do it.....
Not for the money.....they may get some profit of it....
Just to show the rare records to the fans of Grace & JA....

If they would like to be rich.....go dig for diamonds & gold.....
And take care that the DVDs are sold....
And please before i am old.....

Agree, have also heard some of this stuff and it is great, especially the Oct. '69 timeframe. But some of what is out there sounds horrible, especially a lot of the early and 1970 era stuff.

I would pay anything if the quality is really good.

Regards.

They are extremely uncomfortable with the idea that I am a teenage girl in the body of a 60 year old career criminal who has already died 16 times...

They should make downloads available
high quality (low compress.) and
less quality (a bit higher compress.)
High Quality=bigger files=longer download

For free ?.....that would be nice....
They could have some $$ for it......for doin' a
internet shop....name it www,paradiseonearth,com.....
For downloads.....music...videos....etc etc....

Creating that internet shop....
a job for Roman the sys.admin. ?

May, 1967

The first disc of JEFFERSON AIRPLANE LOVES YOU contains a bunch of live stuff that's very nicely recorded from a May, 1967 show at the Fillmore West.

There's also an INCREDIBLE version of Ballad of You & Me... that is crystalline clarity. I swear the mix, playing and singing is perfect. So much so that I thought it was an extended studio mix the first time I heard it. Listening very closely at the end of the song you can barely hear the audience.
