Unfortunately, I may have given misleading information.

Jorma says in a letter for me about 9 years ago that the original Kaukonens came from Ylistaro (Finland). His grandmother (I don't know, if he meant a grandmother on his father's or mother's side) came from Kotka (also in Finland) and her name was Palmquist. Palmquist is a Swedish name.

There are quite a lot Swedish last names in Finland. I also have a Swedish last name. My ancestor came to Finland in the 19th century.

Maybe I should add -nen to my name... 8)
