True, revolutions are bad, but frankly we need one, at least in America.And if not a nation-wide full-scale change of things, then at least a music and sub-culture revolution, which I'm going to try to start.Its really not like things can get worse within music and media, aside from any of the obvious.I figure, we got one life, do something with it.

I'd say, in a place as conservative as America, out-and-out revolt is going to lead to repression. Get rid of a Nixon, and up pops a Reagan. Permanent change takes time. You've got time, you're young.

Cheesh! It's a revolution of peace, nothing more than visual mass hypnosis with peace signs and long hair and music. That's not gonna cause all the household turmoil it did in the 60s. Well, maybe the long hair.

Why is everyone so afraid of peace? Does that threaten your music, Redrabrid?

Plus chances are it wouldn't catch on. It wouldn't be cool to be hip.

We're certainly not talking about marching in the streets, asking for it from the men with clubs and rubber bullets.

And I tend to defer to Susan, as she seems wiser than me on this stuff.

I guess the only question to ask is, Are you with it?

Maybe put that under the peace sign.

The worst that could happen would be a few less violent young people on the streets.

I hope you atleast tried to get your son into JA.Probably the generation problem, most people only stick to whats within their generation.I never found interest in anything in my generation, just disgust.

I force him to listen to JA when I have to drive him to the car dealer to pick up his car. I've been putting on the JA woodstock CDs which is all I have in CD.

I do blame rap for the majority of teenage violence today, and how the loss of popularity for actual music groups that have real instruments.Then theres American Idol...

The point is, I want to get rid of all that crap.It can be done.I feel it.Everybodys minds have to be opened again.

I have no JA CDs, just most of the records(except the elusive first three).However, if there was one JA CD I could get first, the Woodstock Experience would be it.Been dying to get it.My mom isnt much into them, but today I made her sit through Blows Against The Empire.That was fun!

Had a little bit of a Freudian twist. Freud did know how to get peoples attention though.

Remember to stay out of the way of the blood stained bandit!

Put a peace sign on your guitar to get started. Start with your friends.
Maybe peace sign car stickers instead of support your troops.

Don't work too hard at it. It takes years and you will get too frustrated. So just have fun with it, and grow with it.

Yeah this thread has evolved quiet interestingly.I have none of those things Babson mentioned, but will try, its hard to stray from your parents if you are into most of the things they are.But whatever.And that is true American Idol has lowered the standards for being a real musician a lot.Now theres just dance and singing shows out there, theres even one singing competition show(forget the name...) that advocates giving up learning an actual instrument!Makes my blood boil.
