The Jefferson Airplane Video Archive Topic!

Well, every forum has one, why not this one!I'll introduce: Here we post any Airplane videos on the net, prefferably footage, but if you find some rare recording without footage thats also good. This is also for any "rare footage buffs" like me, so if you come across any quite rare Airplane footage not on youtube or anything, that would be amazing, because frankly theres not enough!Im still looking for the videos when Grace dressed as Adolf Hitler in 1969 which was pulled from youtube years ago.

Ill start with two great performances.First, is Woodstock, which having heard the whole thing, I think its one of the best performances I have ever heard. If only the whole performance would turn up on DVD.I would pay millions!

"Woodstock", Bethel, New York, 16th August 1969, the videos are in order of performance-
1.The Other Side of This Life(a snippet from the audience of part way into the song, NOT the whole thing!)
2.Somebody to Love(wasnt in movie)
3.3/5ths Of A Mile in Ten Seconds(turned up for the 40th Anniversary DVD box set, and is on a bonus disc!)
4.Other Side of This Life/Wont You Try/Saturday Afternoon(Saturday Afternoon was the fourth song in, so I put it here, even though it begins with the opening of Other Side)
5.Uncle Sam Blues(Jorma!)
6.Volunteers(turned up for the 40th, but I have yet to find it on the DVD box set.Paul plays Jormas Gibson!)
7.White Rabbit(wasnt in movie)
Unless someone releases one of those hundreds of Fillmore concerts, this will be the closest we get to a (classic)Jefferson Airplane concert on film.

Then we go back two years, 1967!This performance was done for Canadian TV on their first venture up there.

O'Keefe Center(??), Toronto, ON, Canada 14th September 1967-
1.Ballad of You and Me and Pooneil(studio version dubbed over)
2.Two Heads(studio version dubbed over)
3.White Rabbit(much better quality and actually live!)

PS: If anybody wants to learn to how to download these videos to your computer, and put them on DVD, Ill tell yall how but I can understand if none of you want to get into that, so I'll post details upon request to everyone.

I hate to say it, but I don't think the '67 white rabbit is actually what they were playing there... spencer's cymbals and jorma's guitar strumming are the giveaway

What do you mean by it not being the "1967" White Rabbit.I mean, everything they performed live changed at least in the tiny bit after early 1967.And there are few recordings from the After Bathing at Baxters era, this being the only footage of them performing from that era in circulation. You're talking about the Canadian video right?

Oh no, I didn't mean that. I was just saying that I don't think the audio goes with the video. Both are definitely live and I don't doubt they're from 1967. It's just that when you watch spencer and jorma, you can tell they're not playing that exact recording.

Thanks for posting this by the way... I'd seen all of them except for this version of white rabbit. Exceptional video quality!

Sad video of the JA playing at the Holland Pop festival in June 1970. Marty looks bored, Grace sounds a bit deep and out of it, and Jorma looks pissed and gives Grace bad looks.

Wow, to be able to see the birth of Wooden Ships. utterly fantastic. Thank you Do a Line for directing me to this video. And thank you Marty Balin for putting it on your website! Hey, finally I found the Typewriter tapes too. A young Janis singing very, very well, accompanied by Jorma. Go there now!

The Typewriter Tapes is one of my favorite recordings ever. I'm a huge Janis fan, and I've been known to listen to that particular bootleg three times in a day. I realize it seems excessive, but I just love it.

Edit: Hey, that's my 200th post!!
