I really love those Collector Item's recordings. The Bob Dylan song they do on there is great, I haven't listened to them in so long. When this Dungen record is over that I am listening to right now, I am going to listen to that. Both part one and part two are great. I have this other record by them called, Somebody To Love (labeled as Grace Slick and The Great Society) and it has some good studio stuff not found on the Collector's Items recordings. I think it is only on vinyl though so you'll have to hunt for it that way but a lot of the material can be found on the Born To Be Burned collection. Another thing to be mentioned is Darby Slick used to play a fretless guitar and not too many people out of that scene were doing that and what other Frisco band has an oboe solo in any of their songs. In my opinion even if those recording sound "amateurish", they were way ahead of pretty much any other Frisco band back in 65 at least.
If you were a cloud and you sailed up there,
You sail on water as blue as air;
You'd see me here in the fields and say,
"Doesn't the sky look green today?"
