I agree with PsychedelicRabbit,

, But Paul Kantner, man, he is beautiful.

Paul first blew my mind at Woodstock, he just stood there, looking cool, like he was meant to be there. He had long hair with a piece of material tied around it. His guitar sat casually under his arm as he spoke to a crowd of freaks. I was in the crowd, on 'The Other Side of This Life', sitting infront of our television and I could feel what Paul was saying, just as clear as the people at Woodstock. Man, he really spoke to me.

Even though I love them all I give Grace the credit for making me a fan.

It's such a hard thing for me to pick! All of them certainly made the Airplane what it was, and the exclusion of any of them would have course made it a lesser product.
I highly recommend the book 'Jefferson Airplane' by Ralph Gleason for an inside peak into the member's minds around 1968 and 1969. About 15 pages of interviews devoted to each member. I personally found Jack's interview the most interesting of all of them, because it was a lot of stuff I never knew about him and things like that.
The thing that attracted me to the Airplane however was probably Jorma's guitar playing. I had never heard tone and texture like that in an electric guitar.
