Grace on the Organ?

Postby bishop on Wed Jun 04, 2008 2:51 pm

Forgive me if this has been covered elsewhere, but i was out walking listening to a JA show from early 67 on the headphones. An amazing show, very tight, right on target, and the Jam is incredible.

There are a few songs in this show that feature some really good fuzztone organ playing. Was this Grace or Marty or did they have a friend join them?

The organ playing with Jorma and Jack in the Jam is first class. I wish they did more of this.

No C-D, Hopkins did not play w/ JA at all yet in 1967.

Both Grace and Marty play some keyboards, more Grace.

In the Monterey Pop film you can see Slick play keyboard on "Today."

And during the reunion tour in the 80s she played keyboard on the Panda song.

Grace did play Organ as well as Piano, but she couldn't sing at the same time. That's why she didn't play so often, since she was singing most of the time. In the studio she would record her keyboard parts first.
