Fat Angel Question

I have heard it performed on numerous live JA recordings, e.g. from BLESS IT'S POINTED LITTLE HEAD...

Does there exist a JA (unofficially-released but perhaps extant) "studio" version?

I do not own "The Airplane Man" Craig Fenton's TAKE ME TO A CIRCUS TENT book and so I have a question:

WHO in the band plays WHAT instrument on this song?

I think I have heard that Marty plays bass? Maybe Paul is doing "lead" guitar?

What do Jack and Jorma play?

Am I mixed-up or what?

Can somebody, anybody, clear this confusion for me?

First, I would definitely recommend Craig's book. It has amazing photos and interviews, but my favorite section is the intensive record on all of the Airplane's performances, which include all of the songs they played, and special notes, such as when it was first performed, etc...

Well, something interesting. I had a little trouble finding it in Craig's book. In the liner notes that came with the CD, it said it was performed in November, but it should probably read October 26, 1968. Fat Angel was the opening number that night, and Bless Its Pointed Little Head was the first live album.

However, I couldn't find any information on who was playing what.

As for the studio version of the song, I am a little skeptical. They often performed Other Side of This Life live, but to my knowledge, was never done as a "studio version".

According to the Bless it Pointed Head notes Marty jumped on bass, Paul made the drone sounds, Jack jumped on rythym guitar, and Jorma on leads.

I don't think any studio version of Jefferson Airplane playing Fat Angel was ever done. They just enjoyed playing it live.

By the way, what notes does this refer to? I own the LP, the CD released in the 90s and the most recent remaster and I don't see any notes in any of them that say what instruments are being played. Did I miss something?

Joe, that was the original intent of my question.

Apparently, certain members play different instruments than their particularly customary (and may I say masterful) ones...

I just wondered who plays what, and what people agreed upon, and what I have read.

That is all.
