That reminds me, on that Family Dog album, the end verse of Ballad of You & Me & Pooneil are some of the lyrics to what later became the songs "Hijack" & "Starship." I think this performance was probably from early 1970, rather than 1969. The picture of the poster on the album cover has a Feb 19th date, which isn't listed anywhere that I can find (I don't have Craig Fenton's book in front of me to check though)
The lyrics that appear:
Marty, Paul, Grace:
If you were a bird and you lived very high,
You'd lean on the wind when the breeze came by,
Say to the wind as it took you away,
That's where I wanted to go today
I do know that I need to have you around
And I do
I do know that I need to have you around
Paul:
Love like a mountain springtime,
flashing through the rivers of my mind;
it's what I feel for you.
Grace:
[Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah]
Marty, Paul, Grace
You and me go walking south
And we see all the gold around us,
The colors blind my eyes and my mind to all but you,
And I do know that I need to have you around,
And I do
I do know that I need to have you around.
Grace:
[Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah]
Jack's Bass solo + 5-minute jam
Grace:
You may have been wondering what it was you all saw
What it was you saw
Marty:
You and me go walking south
And we see all the gold around us,
The colors blind they my eyes and my mind to all but you,
And I do know that I need to have you around
And I know that I need to have you around
Paul:
I have a house
Grace:
But I wonder will the sun still see all the people goin' by.
Paul:
I have a house where I can go
When there's too many people around
Grace:
When there's nobody
When there's nobody
Nobody around
Oh
Paul:
But I wonder will the sun still see all the people goin' by.
Marty, Paul, Grace:
Will the moon still hang in the sky when I die,
When I die, when I'm high, when I die?
Jorma Guitar Solo
Paul:
Whatcha gonna do when you feel the old lady rollin'
How you gonna feel when you see the old lady strollin'
Paul, Grace:
On the deck of a Starship with her head hooked into Andromeda
Hijack
Get Back
Paul:
Hydroponic gardens and forests
Glistening with lakes in the Jupiter starlight
Grace:
The Jupter starlight
Paul:
Room for babies and Byzantine dancing astronauts of renown
The magician; the pantechnicon
Take a farmer; take a physician
We gotta get out and down
Back into the future
Beyond our own time again
Reachin' for tomorrow
And it's so fine
Paul, Grace:
