Hi Chasin Destiny.

Thanks for the quick reply, but I checked all these and now I checked it again and on not one of the older albums I can find the song "Give Me A Ticket For An Aeroplane".
When I saw a picture of the cover from "After Bathing At Baxter's" I thought that was the album I had with this song but it must been another album because the song is not on it.
I hoped someone here could help and I still hope somebody comes up with the info.

Thanks a lot anyway, I really do appreciated,
Tommy

I'm afraid that the song you are refering to is called The Letter, and was by a sixties group called the Box Tops.

......thanks for both of your replies.
The name of the song is "Give Me A Ticket For An Aeroplane" and was definitely played by Jefferson Airplane.
You can look up the lyrics all over the net but there is never mentioned from which album it was just that it was from Jefferson Airplane.

Google Search for "Give Me A Ticket For An Aeroplane"

And I had it as well a long time ago but it is possible that was played before by someone else with a different title.
Anyway I want to get the album again were the song was played by Jefferson Airplane and will check out the link you provided and hope that I have more luck looking there.

Thanks again for your help.......

I hope JA did play the song, it has very nice lyrics, and anything from the Airplane is a must have. I can easily imagine Marty singing this one. Anyway:

Jefferson Airplane's first album was Jefferson Airplane Takes Off in 1966. It did include Blues from an Airplane and other songs. I am speculating that if Jefferson Airplane played a song like that, it would be relatively early. Every other subsequent major album does not include it, so it would have to be a live recording, or a studio version not released on any of their major albums.

Also what I know from searching the web, The Box Tops wrote The Letter which was released in 1967, and has the same lyrics as Give Me A Ticket For an Aeroplane.

I know this doesn't help, but that's all I know. You should definitely check out Takes Off even though it doesn't include your song, it is a great album that has songs that sound similar to that one, with the lyrics and such.

Anyway, welcome to the forum and come back often!! 8)

.......if I find the album again I'll let you guys know.
It was definitely a rare piece as I was collectiing vinyl rarities from around 1968 up to around 1975 when I was still living in Europe 24 years ago.
It's a shame that I had to left the collection over there.
Who knows who is holding all the LP's now.
It's funny that I when I make a Google search for "Give Me A Ticket For An Aeroplane" it shows a lot of websites saying lyrics by Jefferson Airplane but no album info.
By the way, was there an album that looked similar like "After Bathing At Baxter's" because if I remember it right that was what it looked like.
Anyway, thanks to all of you for trying to help and I'll be back here if I get lucky......

Hi Chasin-Destiny

Could it be that I'm way off here?
It seems regarding the info I got that this song wasn't played by Jefferson Airplane at all.
And I still could swear that I had it on a Jefferson Airplane album.
At the moment I'm trying to dig something up here but that could take a while.
As soon as got something solid to show I'll be back here.

Your effort to help is very much appreciated.

Cheers,
Tommy

.......yeah, it seems that I was wrong all along.
Sorry, about that.
I still can't figure it out what was going on in my head but never mind, it was good to be wrong because I got myself 3 Jefferson Airplane albums like:

Jefferson Airplane

"Takes Off" - "After Bathing At Baxter's" & "Surrealistic Pillow"

And because of that it was definitely worth to be wrong.
Also it was nice to meet some helpful people here and because of that I'll be back here from time to time.

Thanks again to all of you.......
