Would You Like a Snack?

Has anyone heard this weird song? LOL. I really like it. It is so odd. Frank Zappa and Grace collaborated.

Anyone know much about this odd but good (in my opinion) song?

I first heard it on the Jefferson Airplane Loves You box set. I also really like it, it's a great collaboration.

It was done in 1968, which would mean it was probably done during the sessions for We're Only in it for the Money, Cruising with Ruben and the Jets and Uncle Meat [all three of those albums stem from the same 1968 recording sessions.]

I love this song. It is so odd. I am intrigued by it. I just love Grace's voice on it.

It's on Crown of Creation, the CD. I just got it from overseas on eBay and it's got 4 bonus tracks on it, one of which is Would You Like a Snack.

You can definitely hear Frank Zappa in there.

This is an old topic, but I just found out today that "Would You Like a Snack?" is actually about Grace's period or something.
I don't know how, really. All that caught my attention in the lyrics are "bleeder"...but if anyone else can explain the lyrics better, do so freely. LOL.

Seems like I remember, before even buying "Crown Of Creation", that there may have been an explanation of that song in Grace's auto-biography. I think the song is just plain old goofing around. Kind of like "I Am The Walrus" by The Beatles was John's response to the over analyzation of songs like "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" Actually "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" was a song inspired by one of Julian Lennon's drawings when he was a child, but people seemed to take the initials literally and thought the song was about L.S.D. So John wrote "I Am The Walrus", which is about nothing really, intending to confound the critics. "Would You Like A Snack" may be the same. Just a song to make you scratch your head. "Lather" is a song that has been debated on here as well. I think most people here know that "Lather" was about drummer Spencer Dryden. I think that this song sounds like the end of a love affair and it would make sense. She and Spencer did have a relationship at one time, I think.

LatherPCL, yeah, they did have a relationship for awhile.

I read that "Would You Like a Snack?" is about Grace's period from this book I'm reading, "Summer of Love" by Joel Selvin. I didn't think it meant anything either, but apparently it's just a commentary on periods. I can see how it would be about that, too. But I can't explain how...it just is.

Heheh, well, I read in a Frank Zappa biography my girlfriend has that it's about Grace's period, yeah. Or at least, I THINK I read it in a Frank book...she's got so many damn books, I get myself confused about where I've read what and when.

In any case, it was just a very brief thing about how the song didn't do so well and people expected more from that particular collaboration but that the public wasn't really ready for a whole song about Grace having her period. Those last several words were the exact words I read in this book, whatever it is.

So yeah...now that I know this, the lyrics do make (a bit) more sense...sort of. Somehow it makes sense...just the strange sort of chaos of it, the noises of somewhat pain and frustration or annoyance, the blood things mentioned, eating figs (I think they have iron in 'em)...lol
