The Ballad of You, Me and Pooneil...

Postby MicksPulloutCouch on Wed Jul 04, 2007 3:06 am

Quick question about that awesome song that doubles as my title....
OK, so you know the "Love..." part, that Paul sings? Well, at the end of that, he says/sings something that sounds remotely like 'armadillo'. Could someone tell me what he really says?

Thanks.

Love like a mountain springtime
Flashing through the rivers of my mind
Is what I feel for you

"oohhh armadillllillililloooohhhh-ooohhh-ohhhh"
to spell it in a very obnoxious way

On the version on Baxter's (not the bonus, live track), Grace sings "armadillo" as pandalove describes. Then it is spoken again right after Grace finishes.
By the way, is there a particular reason why they chose armadillo?

Somewhere in the dim, dark, distant recesses of what's left of my mind I recall an interview where either Paul or Grace said that "it just sounded right", and that there was no particular meaning to it. Of course, your mileage may vary and objects may not be what they seem to appear to be...

Cheers,
Dave

:D I can only imagine that armadillos live in desert areas like lizards, chameleons, etc. and these animals are considered as being 'psychedelic'! 8)

I could just never quite tell what they were saying.

But, it just wouldn't sound right any other way.

LOVE those photos of Jorma with the home-made sleeves-cut-off purple tie-dye shirt and the (what we 1980's punk-rockers) called "skater shorts...
