Looking for lyrics

Postby gustavo.zini on Fri Feb 02, 2007 3:22 pm

Hi, I am a Jefferson Airplane fan that lives in Argentina. I recently bought the album "Surrealistic Pillow" with bonus tracks, and I am unable to find on the Net the lyrics for the folllowing songs:

J.P.P Mc Step B. Blues
Come back baby

In every lyrics site I searched, I've found only the lyrics for the songs in the original album.

I would appreciate your help in findind the lyrics for these two bonus tracks.

Thank you, and greetings.

It's just strange....
There is a lot of info about the songs
from JA, the words etc. etc.
But i can't find things about these 2 songs.

Maybe Craig Fenton knows something about it...

His book is a must have for every JA fan !!!

Airplane lyrics for the flight

Postby craigtheairplaneman on Sat Feb 03, 2007 11:37 am

Hi there and welcome from Argentina.

Hope you are enjoying the flight. I will try to write the lyrics for you sometimes today/Sunday.

J.P.P. McStep B. Blues is shown to have lyrics on the Jefferson Starship site (Thank you "Do A Line") but you may have to click through 100 or so to get to that one.

If you give me some time I'll get the words for you.

Hello to Chasin' Destiny/Psychhead from the Airplane Man and to all the great people on board.

Be well,
CF

JPP Mc Step B Blues
Alex Spence

Got a feelin' comin' from inside
A love for you my friends that I can't hide
And on these words that come I hope you ride
And I hope that my feelin' and meanings come thru

One short moment and I knew ya
Like lookin' in a mirror I looked through ya
My night time rider has flown to ya
And I can see me like I've been seein' you

This is a song of your hand
Written so you would understand
A special feelin' taken by my stand
And I know you're goin' to love me like I've been lovin you

And because you had a hand to lend
And you know the sands of time are just made of sand
Even though you might be in another land
I know I am with you forever............my friend

Lyrics: Lightnin' Hopkins
Music: Lightnin' Hopkins

It is not clear that this was ever played by the Dead: the listing for 19 May 1966 at the Avalon Ballroom is a mistake for Tastebud. It was played as an instrumental on 11 November 1970 with members of Hot Tuna, who also recorded this song. The lyrics below are from a Lightnin' Hopkins version

Come back baby, baby please don't go
Well I love you, and I want the world to know
Come back baby
Let's talk it over
One more time

This old world wasn't made in one day
Come back baby, don't go away
Come back baby
Let's talk it over
One more time

You know it's been a long time since I saw you smile
Makes me think of the time you was a child
Come back baby
Let's talk it over
One more time

If you ain't coming back baby, please let me know
Then I won't have to worry about you not coming back no more
Come back baby
Let's talk it over
One more time

Thanks to all of you, specially to "Do A Line" who finally posted the answer. I reviewed the lyrics for JPP Mc Step B Blues , and there is one mistake in the following paragraph:

one short moment and I knew ya
like lookin' in a mirror I looked through ya
my night time rider has flown to ya
and I hope you can see me like I've been seein' you

(the "I hope you" was missing)

Then I reviewed the lyrics for the JA version of Come back baby, and I think they are as follows:

come back baby, baby please don't go
well I love you, I want the world to know
come back baby, let's talk it over
one more time

ah, this old world, well wasn't made in one day
said, come back baby, and don't go away
ah, come back baby, let's talk it over
one more time

ah, come back baby, baby please don't go
well, well I love you, I want the world to know
come back baby, let's talk it over
one more time, one more time

Greetings again from this JA fan

Thank you Do A Line for lyrics help

Postby craigtheairplaneman on Sat Feb 03, 2007 4:03 pm

Hi Do A Line:

Thank you for the great work on the lyrics for the songs. It is nice to have a J.A. fan in argentina (Welcome sir). Thanks for making him feel comfortable aboard the flight.

It once again shows that anybody Don Aters associates with you and Rick Martin for examples are always A+ people!

Thanks and all on the lfight have a great day,
CF

By the way, Jorma has now started performing Come Back Baby much closer to the original Lightin' Hopkins way.
Both are great.
And, if you're not familar with Lightin', ya gotta check him out. One of the greatest (Texas) bluesmen ever.
