60's rock posters

Postby Guest on Sun May 29, 2005 7:43 am

Does anyone collect 60's rock posters? Psychedelic first print posters from the Fillmore, or Winterland or any thing similar? I have started to collect these beautiful posters about 3 years ago and my collection has started to take shape (about 12 posters now). What is the best way to preserve these posters from aging? They are all about 35 years old.

Wolfgangsvaqult.com which sells them right out of the tubes, from the bill graham vaults, i think sells HUGE sealable bags with every classic concert poster they sell. I bought a Big Brother and the Holding company poster from them a while back and it cane in a tube with a giant air tight sealable plastic bag. If you leave them out, or in direct sunlight eventually the sun fades them. The elements kill them, after all some of them are over 40 years old. If you plan to keep it forever, have it laminated. Id email wolfgangsvault.com and see if they sell just these bags or something. I tried to get into this hobby but it got too expensive for me.

I have two posters (1 Jefferson Airplane and 1 from The Doors).
No first prints but reproductions. All those posters just look great, but first prints are a bit to expensive and fragile if you ask me (although i still payd about 40 dollars for the signed Doors poster).
Wolfgangs Fault is a bit expensive imho, Posterplanet is a bit cheaper and has a good selection.

Sort of off-topic, but also sort of on-topic.

I recently made a flyer/poster for a band I want to start and I tried to make it look like a Bill Graham-era poster.

Check it out:

edit: I realized that I have Donovan listed twice and while he is a big influence on me, he's not that big. I'll fix it shortly.

I dig it caseyjames, looks authentic from the 60's
