What do u think of Grace's solo albums? Preferences?

My fave is : WRECKING BALL (hope I got the title right??!). Even though many a critic wiped it out as being a bad copy of hard rock, I like it. Shows that Grace can be aggressive with her voice, but still maintain her style and beauty!!!!!!!!!

Manhole. Pure genius. That title track may be the single greatest artistic achievement in pop music.

I have a hard time deciding between Manhole and Dreams! The songs from Manhole are definitely more distinctive and more what I'd expect from Grace (Better Lying Down--so good!) --but Dreams has a certain relaxing quality to it. All the songs kind of blend together, which I really like.

I like Manhole.......and I like the booklet in the vinyl. The part about the record eating contest is funny, very Grace Slick. I think I like this one the best because it is very similar to Sunfighter and Baron von Tollboth and the Crome Nun, they all have Paul Kantner, Grace Slick, and David Freiberg (Quicksilver Messenger Service). They had some great ideas together.

You sail on water as blue as air;
You'd see me here in the fields and say,
"Doesn't the sky look green today?"

MANHOLE ahhh yes!!! Who could not love "Come again Toucan"? DREAMS is a good album too, but I like "who gives a fuck I'm drunk!" Grace as oppose to sober Grace. The song "Seasons" is a guilty pleasure of mine- I don't often share with others! What would people think!!! :D 8) :P  :!:

Gracie's albums

Postby noelpne on Fri Apr 22, 2005 4:13 pm

I've only got Manhole so I can't really compare. This album is very
good - but I needed to play it quite a quite a few times to get its finer
points.
She has such an interesting piano style.

That she does, Noel. Certainly beats the hell out of Paul McCartney at any rate...

I adore the "Software" album! It's my fave Grace album. I love the "We'd rather not know what's going on. We'd rather just take drugs and drink" line in "It Just Won't Stop." "Habits" is a great song, too.

manhole every time .
have to be in the right frame of mind
a little wine a little weed
put the needle on the record and sit back and enjoy the journey
come agian ? toucan is my fave track
epic is a top tune
love the sound of the bag pipes at the start of the tune.

finally got hold of a copy of software
it took years (10 years almost)
the album is growing on me
i have to remind myself it was made in the 80,s
and it shows on some of the arrangements
i like the track all the machines
grace telling it like it is
way to go gracie
hurry up sleep take me

Best Grace Album

Postby alsin on Wed Jun 01, 2005 6:12 pm

I would have to go with Dreams. Grace's voice was at it's best. IT'S very dramatic. I think Grace would have been a great actress.
