Wow - their doing an electric show in NYC, and an acoustic show the next night right here on Long Island, in early December. Wish we weren't on such a tight budget - I get to eat Tuna, but not see and hear it...

Well, you've never seen them, so that's truly a missed experience. Even though they still sound great, I wonder how many more years they will tour? At some point, it would be easier on them to just do shows at Jorma's ranch, and let people come to them.
I forget if you said you live in Virginia, N.C., or Florida? If it's VA, and you would enjoy an acoustic show - I'd still implore you to find some way to get to the Birchmere in early December. I only paid $25 to see them from the front table 2 years ago there.

They'll probably find their way over here sometime...

I have seen dates in CA posted in the past - how could they not? Jorma's website has all the upcoming tour dates (nothing shown for CA right now), and he gives setlists in his "Diary" section. There is a Hot Tuna website that also has the tour schedule. I've noticed they tend to do some venues around here at the same time each year, which is great to plan for!

Electric Tuna WITH G E Smith in the band at the Keswick Theatre- that's 10 minutes from my house. Got a third row seat on the left- Jack's side. I'm fired up!

I have some recordings of GE Smith playing with Hot Tuna at Jorma's ranch - he sounds great with them! Wicked leads on "Can't Be Satisfied", which is one of their staples. Glad he's not shmucking it up on SNL anymore, it's gotta be embarrassing to be a musician who intros into the commercials?

I see 5 Jorma shows listed in CA, in mid February. This is Jorma and G.E. Smith together, so I don't know if it's acoustic or electric. Normally, a Jorma "solo" show would be acoustic with Barry Mitterhoff (mandolin), and an electric show would be billed as Hot Tuna (with Jack).

I think someone got a little off-track there, but I'm happy to report that I've arranged a family trip to a somewhat local winery to see Jorma and Barry Mitterhoff do an acoustic show. My mom is 85 or so, and coincidentally visiting at that time - but is very excited about this reunion and day out. I'm kinda used to going to Hot Tuna shows with just a friend or two, or even alone - so this is something very special!
