I'm finishing up "Storming Heaven: LSD and the American Dream" by Jay Stevens. It's enjoyable and in some places redundant. I had read "Acid Dreams" long ago and wanted to hear another authors point of view/research.

Next up is another book on the subj of "Modern Art" ...I had read recently H.H. Arnason's History of Modern Art and loved it.

Then I also have up a re-reading of Phil Lesh's "Searching for the Sound"...having just come off a re-reading of Dennis McNally's "Long Strange Trip: the Inside History of the Grateful Dead"

All really farout books there.....thanx for the heads up on them :)!!!

I've got a copy of Arnason on my reference shelves. Carol calls it "The Doorstep Of Modern Art". I've heard they don't teach Art History any more, which is sad. I guess everyone's heard of Warhol, and that's all they need to know now.

Okkkkkkk....finished re-reading McNally's "Long Strange Trip" (Grateful Dead) and now am re-reading "Searching for the Sound: My Life with the Grateful Dead" by Phil Lesh.....

just ordered the Grace Slick bio by Barbara Rowes....which I originally read in 1982!...

Lord am I going in circles?

If you knew what else I've read you say ....naw.....

What I am reading is not a book, but to me very excting news about a large (3000 pounds), feathered tyrannosaur that was found in China.
My love for Jefferson Airplane isn't the only fascination from my youth that stayed with me over the years: Dinosaurs, biology/evolution, astronomy, the Aegean bronze age....
I am a bit of a nerd, i am afraid.
But one who knows how to dress.

"Help!" That's not "Help!" with the Beatles, but "Harvey Kurtzman's Help! For Tired Minds". This the sixties humour magazine that introduced photo comic strips to America. I've never been able to find a copy until two turned up last week just as we were shooting our own first photostrip. Now I have that notorious Terry Gilliam illustrated Klu Klux Klan pamphlet I've wanted to see for years. Hoo-hah!

There were a few paperback reprints of the not-so-great early issues, a book reprint of the "Goodman Beaver" strip (very funny and beautifully drawn, like Little Annie Fanny without the tits and bums), and "Wonder Warthog" and "Fritz The Cat" have also been reprinted.
