I'm glad you started this CD, I had wanted to hear other peoples thoughts on it as well.

Jefferson Airplane, and especially Grace, doesn't really do love songs as that mushy stuff with soppy lyrics. Their music that can be called love songs really mean something and are powerful! One of my all time favorite love songs is High Flyin' Bird, Jefferson Airplane's performance at Monterey. Simply amazing.

THE love song that TOPS them all...........TODAY!! :):):)
TODAY - on YT....
http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=w-pQCzQ0oCo

Today I feel like pleasing you more than before
Today I know what I want to do but I don't know what for
To be living for you is all I want to do
To be loving you it'll all be there when my dreams come true
Today you'll make me say that I somehow have changed
Today you'll look into my eyes, I'm just not the same
To be anymore than all I am would be a lie
I'm so full of love I could burst apart and start to cry
Today everything you want, I swear it all will come true
Today I realize how much I'm in love with you
With you standing here I could tell the world what it means to love
To go on from here I can't use words, they don't say enough
Please, please listen to me
It's taken so long to come true
And it's all for you
all for you....

This can be considered a love song, and possibly my favorite Airplane song:

DCBA-25

It's time we walked away, set me free
I must move away, leave you be
Time's been good to us, my friend
Wait and see how it will end
We come and go as we please (We come and go as we please)
That's how it has to be

Here in crystal chandelier, I'm home
Too many days are left unstoned
If you don't mind happiness
What full pleasure feels in the sun
Oh, don't you know I'm running home (Don't you know I'm running home)
To a place to you unknown

I take great peace in your sitting there
Searching for myself, I find a place there
I see the people of the world
Where they are and what they could be
I can but dance behind your smile (I can but dance behind your smile)
You were the world to me for awhile

Mandy....unforgettable!

I remember all my life
Raining down as cold as ice
A shadow of a man
A face through a window
Crying in the night
The night goes into

Morning, just another day
Happy people pass my way
Looking in their eyes
I see a memory
I never realized
you made me so happy, oh Mandy

Well you came and you gave without taking
but I sent you away, oh Mandy
well you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
I need you today, oh Mandy

I'm standing on the edge of time
I Walked away when love was mine
Caught up in a world of uphill climbing
The tears are in my mind
And nothing is rhyming, oh Mandy

Well you came and you gave without taking
but I sent you away, oh Mandy
well you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you today, oh Mandy

Yesterday's a dream I face the morning
Crying on the breeze
the pain is calling, oh Mandy

Well you came and you gave without taking
but I sent you away, oh Mandy
well you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you today, oh Mandy

Waterloo Sunset - the Kinks
Here's the live version by Ray Davies in '97....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXuJXPd8C14

Dirty old river, must you keep rolling
Flowing into the night
People so busy, makes me feel dizzy
Taxi light shines so bright
But I dont need no friends
As long as I gaze on waterloo sunset
I am in paradise

Every day I look at the world from my window
But chilly, chilly is the evening time
Waterloo sunsets fine

Terry meets julie, waterloo station
Every friday night
But I am so lazy, dont want to wander
I stay at home at night
But I dont feel afraid
As long as I gaze on waterloo sunset
I am in paradise

Every day I look at the world from my window
But chilly, chilly is the evening time
Waterloo sunsets fine

Millions of people swarming like flies round waterloo underground
But terry and julie cross over the river
Where they feel safe and sound
And the dont need no friends
As long as they gaze on waterloo sunset
They are in paradise

Waterloo sunsets fine

Little Wing by Hendrix....

Well shes walking through the clouds
With a circus mind thats running round
Butterflies and zebras
And moonbeams and fairy tales
Thats all she ever thinks about
Riding with the wind.

When Im sad, she comes to me
With a thousand smiles, she gives to me free
Its alright she says its alright
Take anything you want from me, anything
Anything.

Fly on little wing,
Yeah yeah, yeah, little wing

Otis Redding - I've Been Loving You Too Long to Stop Now

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGlKJDEI1Nk

Jimi Hendrix - Angel (This was released after Jimi's death. It was meant to be on the followup to Electric Ladyland Jimi had nearly completed before his death.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7ufSCOyOz0

Yes - Yesterday and Today (From the first Yes album from 1969, Peter Banks is on guitar, Tony Kaye is on piano, Bill Bruford is on vibraphone. Note that the piano figure that plays during the outro was later developed into a key riff on the Close to the Edge title track.)

Kate Bush - Oh to Be in Love Again

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Osdjbz1dttE

The Beatles - I Will & Julia

The Beach Boys - Let the Wind Blow (A highly underrated Beach Boys track.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IslzZ5MqZkM

The Who - Love Reing Over Me

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBs8taB0vWU

The Doors - Blue Sunday (I always thought this was a very underrated love song.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5wvqotKG_4

The Pretty Things - She's a Lover

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38YQHfYmrJY

Jefferson Airplane - Triad (I always thought this was one of Grace's best vocal performances and that this was a beautiful arrangment.)

Although not often talked about by their fans, Yes have many excellent love songs, here are a few more.

This was, although not as successful as Owner of a Lonely Heart a big radio single in 1987, Love Will Find A Way. This still is played alot on satelite radio networks;

This is a beautiful live version of the title track from Yes' second album, Time and a Word. It would make fine music for the first dance at a wedding;

This is a live version of Onward originally released in 1978. This live version from 1996 adds an extended guitar intro;

Hearts, This was the 8 minute closing track to 1983's 90125;

Another love song from the first Yes album, Sweetness. This was used in the film Buffalo 66 and was the a-side of Yes' first single;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrRxlcDDlQ8

This was the second track on Yes bass player Chris Squire's 1975 solo album Fish Out of Water, You By My Side;
