Well, you still have to let your kid be a kid. Its no use letting it hear Steve Vai or something when he/she is 4 years old.

You can say 'hey, check this out', but you never can influence somebody's taste. Or let me rephrase... you never SHOULD influence it. He'll probably rebel against it as a teenager and start wearing golden chains!

But - and this is NO joke - when my (boy) kid turns gothic, I kick him out of the house! He can listen to lotsa stuff, but gothic... no!

well...i am really young....but what the hell..since i was much younger my parents put to me all this beatles-stones-hendrix-joplin songs and...vuala! i end up liking it.

there is a small group in my home town who really like good old rock, basicly form by people who don't pass 50. so that is pretty nice that people still believe in music as a form of life.

at least my friends are aware how great the doors and pink floyd are ( yeah, the doors is my life and death)...

i personally Hate spreading music... i was really into queen, spread it all around the school and they ended up KILLING it! they all got the greatest hits and then would KILL every song until it was dead! they would go around wearing a queen shirt and they know NOTHING about the band... it annoyed the hell out of me. so now i hate queen (lost the love for it ) so now im more picky on who i tell music too...

I'm only 14. The only modern bands I listen to are the White Stripes and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I just hate it. I've tried to spread the Airplane and stuff around, but people just accused me of being on drugs or being crazy or something.

you should spread music!there is nobody around me listening to this kind of music.I had to dig for it when I first started listening.I don't know the good bands, good songs so somitimes I spend lots of money for very bad albums.if somebody helped me I could have a greater knowledge of psych music.my buddies listen to modern rock bands and sometimes classics like pink floyd and deep purple.I'm trying to spread music around, I give them copies of my fav albums.if we spread music then next generation will still be listening to ja,grateful dead, doors... if we don't they will listen to ashlee simpson!

I'm 17 years old, and I'm not into modern music. I love 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, and (only one band from the)90's music. "New" music sucks!

My advice to young people would be:

don't listen to music made by black people, unless they are at least 60 or dead
