Wow, you learn something new everyday. I never knew dogs had such roles in war. I hate to see the effects of war, especially on those who don't have a choice about the situation. Reading stories about the dogs that died really tear me up. Leave the fighting to the humans! Let them resolve their own problems, and leave peace loving creatures alone.
However, it is nice to know that some people recognize their actions in saving lives and set up memorials and acknowledgments in their memories.
