"Dark Side Of The Moon" Pink Floyd.
Long ago I heard "Arnold Lane" and "See Emily Play" on the radio, very English psychedelic pop singles that I loved instantly. "Pipers At The Dates of Dawn" (lovely Lovecraftian name by the way) is an album I still play a lot. Of the albums released after "Pipers" I only liked "Music From The Film More" and the studio album of "Umma Gumma". And then came "Dark Side" and it settled the question: I didn't like Pink Floyd without its crazy diamond. I don't think that I ever listened to that album after Punk again.
But sometimes the past catches up with you. Last Saterday I heard the entire "Dark Side" being played at a party.
I thought it wasn't nowhere as bad as I remembered. But a lot was passed around at that party, so I decided to listen to it again at home. Now is the time. "Dark Side" is a very well produced album, the musicians are playing excellently, I hear that now, but overall I do think that it is too pleasing, too soothing, it "perfection" too boring. And those lyrics sound, well how to say it, dated?
Still, quite a surprise.

Here's MY 2 cents on Floyd, if I may?!!!:):) The early PF sound was not boring....perhaps dated by today's standards, but SURELY anything but boring...if you REALLY dig true psychedelic music that is!!:). I would listen to See Emily play a million times rather than 2 seconds of that CHEESY, BORING, PRESUMPTUOUS, DISCO-ORIENTED, 80S GARBAGE record called The Wall = THE WORST ALBUM EVER IN ROCK HISTORY!!!!

....there ya go!!:):)

I too pretty much agree with you about Pink Floyd, RR; amazing! Except "The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" gets its name from "Wind In The Willows". That's hardly Lovecraft, but there is a bit of the terror of the gods in that chapter of the book. Mostly joy, though.

Even "The Wind In The Willows" has Lovecraftian overtones to me, Susan. It reminds me of the eery sound of whippoorwills, that haunts the doomed characters in H.P. Lovecraft's stories.

If you refer to the Gaga I LOVE TO HATE:):):), you're dead wrong there......in the future her "music" will be considered SUB GARBAGE......when I say decent sounds I AUTOMATICALLY LEAVE OUT ANYTHING GAGA:):):):):) :lol:
