The End is Near!/40th Anniversary of Volunteers

According to Adam Walker, we are moving servers. And we are almost two years from 2012, so in several ways the end is near...but!Its the 40th Anniversary of the release of Volunteers this month, how will we celebrate?Im probably going to listen to it more, and like with Bark and LJS, it might get better.Like cheese...

Sounds very possible.

What's the exact date of the anniversary?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veXRCX-8PEg - I found this video interesting as to our future and past. And I dont know the exact date of the anniversary, but I know it was November 1969.Possibly between the 3rd-14th, or 16th-26th, they didnt play any shows during those times.

Did You Know: That Volunteers was put on hold by RCA for several months because of the line "Up Against The Wall, Motherfucker!" in We Can Bet Together. But Im sure you all know that. And now, I journey on a passage to Bankok :D .

Yes, I did hear that.

I still can't imagine how they could've convinced RCA to keep it on, but then again, that was one of the albums where JA had total artistic freedom (which I realize is relative...), right?

I was active on one other site, until they did what they called an "upgrade". Then I couldn't view sections of the forum or log in any more. The mod there told me I needed to change my internet provider. I hope this doesn't happen again, here?

Maybe because its the new Windows thing coming out.Is it 8, or something? That would suck if that happens here.

And I can imagine RCA not letting them have motherfucker on their album. The MC5 went through the same thing with their first album in 1969.Then again Volunteers was the last JA studio album on RCA, so im sure what happened was the inspiration for Grunt Records. So there probably wasnt unlimited artistic freedom.

All we can do is wait and pray.
In the meantime I'm going to listen to Spitfire (Have mercy), Yellow Fever (Salvation!) and Hoppkorv (In Purgatory) for my next JA What If album "Preachers of the Faith". Or "Defenders of the Faith", a religious variation on "Volunteers of Amerika".
